Gritty Trappers pull out close win over Punishers

Neither team was able to find any kind of rhythm,and the match was just going back and forth until someone got lucky enough to bury their chances. All three goals came in the second period alone with the Trappers edging out the high octane offence of the Punishers. T.Sabourin came down the left wing and used a back hand that snuck through N.Mackeen .The Punishers did reply with a slap shot by K.Tsoulakas that had enough vision to find the back of the net. But with just over two minutes left in the frame, D.Castonguay riffled a rocket to beat Mackeen for a second time. The third period was all on the Punisher’s to find a way and level the game. Despite getting a couple of breakaway chances, J.Richer wasn’t planning to give the Punishers anything making remarkable saves.

Dragons claim 4-2 shooutout win over Underdogs

P.Assadi came up big when the Dragons needed him denying both Underdogs breakaways in the shootout. A.Zarzour and D.Gagnon, two players with sweet hands got the job done in the shootout for the Dragons who collected a pair of points in what will be a grinding season. Both sides did all of their scoring done in the second period. R.Zariello and D.Gagnon each tallied for the Dragons while N.El-Feghali and J.Constantin got their scoring done for the Underdogs. This contest couldn’t get any closer than it was. The shots were even along with the penalty minutes leaving only a shootout to decide who would prevail.

P.Koutsogiannopoulos sparks three points in Armadillos season debut

Armadillos forward P.Koutsogiannopoulos scored two goals and added an assist to help the Armadillos defeat Fat Roy on Wednesday night. The goaltending was strong in this game as C.Stavriadis let in one goal on 22 shots. Fat Roys goaltender played well enough but couldn’t hold off Koutsogiannopoulos on two occasions. The Armadillos only got in front late in the second period. Once they grabbed the lead, Fat Roy were unable to match it despite getting their fair share of chances. P.Lapointe used a hard wrist shot that got the better of Vigliotti to widen the margin. Fat Roy got their only goal by M.delGaudio that gave his club a 1-0 first period lead.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Jonathan Richer of the Trappers. If not for him, the Trappers would be 0-2 to start their season.
