(5)Icons vs Left Wings(3)
Late power play goal provides winning edge as Icons nip Left Wings
After conceding their lead on three straight occasions, the Icons got it right when A.Stamiris riffled a slap shot for the winner with only one minute left on the clock. The Left Wings took an unfortunate tripping penalty late in the game that enabled the power play opportunity. The loss came as a heart break but the Left Wings didn’t have much time to lick their collective wounds as they had only an hour to wait for their next game. With the win, the Icons have yet to suffer a loss while the Left Wings are still trying to get in the points column.
(5)River Rats vs Legacy(2)
M.Crialese snaps tie, River Rats never looked back en route to 5-2 victory
Despite a second period surge with two goals, Legacy found themselves behind the eight ball when M.Crialese snapped a 2-2 second period tie. That goal led to another for the right hander which came just a minute before the River Rats added another insurance marker to seal the game. The River Rats had the better start up until squandering their two goal lead. Crialese snapped the tie with just 30 seconds left in the second period which set the tone the rest of the way. J.Palmitano, M.Argiris, M. Moukas, M.Dettorre and J.Morina each collected two points for the River Rats.
(4)Northstars vs Left Wings(1)
Left Wings fall twice in double header night
After dropping a heart breaker earlier on, the Left Wings couldn’t find their stride versus the Northstars. Although it was very close for most of the game, scoring only once just won’t cut it. The Northstars seized their moment with the man advantage when J.Crompton struck snapping a 1-1 tie. That was Crompton’s first of two with his second coming very late in the game. D.Traversy also scored twice in the win while P.Walsh and D.Dillinger collected two assists each. The Left Wings got their lone tally by J.Argyropoulos. J-F Aumais faced 24 shots to help give his club an important win this early in the season.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Max Crialese of the River Rats. In a 2-2 tie game versus Legacy, Crialese came up clutch snapping the draw with his first of two on the night.
