(3)Les Immigrant vs Team Sportek(4) O.T

Two desperate teams faced off that went to the wire

For both these teams, the playoffs started earlier than usual. Each side needed the result to guarantee a post season appearance, and what better way to end it off by going into overtime. Team Sportek looked to be on life support going without a goal for over two periods. By then, Les Immigrant were in full control with a 2-0 lead only to see it slowly evaporate. M.Dubicki rescued Team Sportek by getting on board while setting up two straight markers. That sequence leveled the game at three goals apiece, making the next goal that much more important. Neither side were able to get it done in regulation leaving a dreaded overtime period to decide it all. Once the 3:45 minute mark hit, D.Vitale and Team Sportek celebrated their biggest goal of the season. Les Immigrant started to pick up their game by notching their eight goal in only two matches after averaging about a goal a game. For now, they just fell short but the future looks promising. As for Team Sportek, the next challenge begins and it won’t get any easier as they’ll face the Brew Crew in a do or die match up.

(5)Shockers vs Fatal Demons(4) O.T

Fatal Demons rally falls short in overtime loss to Shockers

Halfway through the game, the Fatal Demons didn’t look like they belonged on the same court as the Shockers. The Fatal Demons battled-from a 3-1 and a 4-2 third period deficit but the Shockers scored in overtime to grab the win. D.Boyd scored a power play goal in overtime to salvage the victory for the Shockers. In addition to the positive result, C.Debonis netted two goals while D.Bourque was solid in net for two straight periods. The Shockers just collected their fourth straight win of the season which couldn’t come at a better time with the playoffs starting next week. For the Fatal Demons, apart-from their two wins versus Team Sportek, kept falling short in four games by only one goal.

(4)Brew Crew vs Red Nose(8)

Red Nose capture first place and first round bye

Although it wasn’t a playoff game, this match had a lot on the line for both sides. Whoever wins secured top seed and a first round bye which is convenient to avoid any opponent in a do or die match up. Red Nose did what they do best and that is pouring on the offence. C.Gingras, a familiar name too many playing in the division took control by bagging a hat trick and providing a helper. His goals came in the first half of the game that helped set things in motion for his club. The difference in this contest may have occurred in the second period where the Brew Crew were totally out matched giving up four unanswered goals. M.Latreille and M.Bourassa collected a pair but M.Latreille was also behind setting up four markers to finish with six points. Overall, the Brew Crew are in good shape with their 8-2 record and a second place finish despite having one poor period.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Dani Vitale of Team Sportek. His overtime goal clinched a final playoff spot for his club.

With Red Nose getting a first round bye, six teams will battle it out in the first round. The match ups are as follow:

(2)Brew Crew vs Team Sportek(7) Team Sportek has to go up against too much experience and quality. Unless the goaltender stands on his head and the team plays a perfect defensive game, than their won’t be much of a chance.

(3)Shockers vs Hit List(6) Shockers will enter this game riding a four game winning streak while the Hit List has struggled as of late. If momentum means anything, then the Shockers will pull through.

(4)Butchers vs Fatal Demons(5) Lots of similarities from-both sides. It should go down to the wire. J.Mandracchia is a game breaker for the Butchers and the Fatal Demons need to revolve some sort of game plan around him or else they might exit early.
