(4)Horsemen vs Bolts(5)F2  S.O

Heartbreak for Horsemen as Bolts wins it in shootout

The Horsemen wasted a two goal lead with power play markers, only to be thwarted time and again by the Bolts net minder. S.Zermalias and M.Kardum gave the Horsemen the early lead only to see B.Bentivegna and J.Michaud tie it in the second. With the game levelled at two, and with so much on the line, each side traded two goals in what was a wild finish to the game. P.Sidhom notched the two goals in the third for the Horsemen while A.Kobayati and J.Pimentel tallied for the Bolts. At that point, the pressure lied on both goaltenders to see who would pull through. And despite doing a great job to keep their clubs in it, somebody eventually would get the final say. In tonight’s case, that would be N.Mackeen who stoned two out of the three attempts his way. The Bolts ultimately won it when A.Kobayati scored his team’s second goal in the shootout that got the better of M.Vinciguerra.

(2)Spartans vs Fat Cats(5) F2

Shorthanded goal, the turning point in Fat Cats wins

The Fat Cats forward J.Scalia may have made arguably the biggest play of the game and that was to provide a shorthanded goal for a 3-1 lead. The Spartans felt deflated at that moment but bounced back immediately to pull within one courtesy of S.Lavoie’s second of the night. However, an early third period spark by S.Hrivnak put the Fat Cats back in control with a two goal cushion. Unable to bounce back, the Spartans kept getting frustrated by G.Sangiovanni, who was brilliant the rest of the way. The Fat Cats played through a messy game taking plenty of penalty minutes while getting balanced scoring. Despite having a below average regular season record, the Fat Cats gelled at the right time to advance into the next round.

The F2 division have now four teams left battling it out. The match ups are as follows:

(1)Black Venom vs Bolts(6) In order for the Bolts to pull through, N.Mackeen and his defence in front of him need to play a cautious defensive game. The Black Venom has too many weapons up front which will find ways to score.

(2)Raging Rhinos vs Fat Cats(5)The Fat Cats will need to build off their previous game as they’ve been inconsistent all season long if they plan to knock out their opponents. However, that’s easier said than done as the Raging Rhinos will be geared up and be difficult to beat with the amount of chemistry they have built over the years.

(3)Reapers vs Gladiateurs(9) F3

Offensive explosion sends Gladiateurs through to next round

Playing with a short bench, Les Gladiateurs put an offensive explosion versus the Reapers on Wednesday night. Les Gladiateurs got off to a fast start getting four first period goals that included a shorthanded marker by R.Vena. That was just the beginning for Vena who went on to add three more goals before the game ended. M.Gelinas and C.Boivin chipped in with a pair and W.Goyer did a fine job in net allowing only one goal per period. It was a contest that was virtually dominated by only one side. Les Gladiateurs won every frame getting plenty of production and a pair of tallies with their special teams.

(4)Latin Blue vs Primetime(2) F3

G.Cerroni nods a pair, Latin Blue sinks Primetime

Latin Blue appeared to be ready in this one despite being out of playoff action for a while. G.Cerroni scored twice and R.Ranieri held the fort in net stopping close to 30 shots. The back breaker occurred late in the second period when A.Arcoraci provided a two goal cushion for a 3-1 lead. The first and last goal did belong to Primetime, but most of the match was controlled by Latin Blue. The veteran side showed no signs of rust and will plan to continue on doing all the little things right in their quest for the championship.

(7)United Arms vs Les Raymonds(0) F3

United Arms open playoffs with blowout win

Les Raymonds respectively kept it close for a long while. But as time went on, the United Arms showed why they have an 8-2 record .The United Arms blitzed Les Raymonds with four third period goals to get an easy pass to the next round. Y.Derohannessian sparked his club with two out of his clubs first three tallies. G.Jerjian also riffled a pair and J-F Aumais had a fairly easy night denying every shot his way. Prior to the game, Les Raymonds knew that it wasn’t going to be easy as they kept running into a tight defence.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Anthony Kobayati of the Bolts. After collecting three points in regulation time, the Bolts forward may have notched the most important goal of the season that came in the shootout for a close 5-4 win.

The F3 division will also have their semi finals begin next week. The match ups are as follows:

(1)Hellfish vs Les Gladiateurs(4) It’s your classic offence vs defence kind of match up. Les Gladiateurs have the ability to put up plenty of numbers while the Hellfish excel at limiting a solid offence. In most cases, defence wins you games and the Hellfish will make sure to suffocate their opponents.

(2)United Arms vs Latin Blue(3)It will be a tight series with both clubs that play with plenty of structure. Whoever limits their mistakes should come out of this one as both sides are evenly matched.
