(6)Shockers vs Lumberjacks(4)
T.Salberg’s third period hat trick powers Shockers past Lumberjacks
All three of T.Salberg’s goals came in the third period, turning a 2-2 tie into a 6-4 win to start the season on the right track for Shockers. Both sides knew it was going to be a grinding type of game. With that, came two power play goals by the Shockers and a pair of special team markers for the Lumberjacks that included a shorthanded tally. Neither side was able to get enough momentum for long stretches but the Shockers found a way to be better by the third. J.Blackman and D.Boyd each scored with the man advantage for the Shockers .The Lumberjacks saw their usual suspects go to work as C.Gingras and D.Ruiz combined for five points in the loss. Its only one game into the season but the Shockers have shown from-their previous sessions that they will be incredibly hard to beat.
(4)Team Cuba vs Fatal Demons(12)
Fatal Demons destroy Team Cuba in strong start to season
It didn’t take long for the Fatal Demons to find their dazzling offensive rhythm against a team that has some adjusting to do. For the Fatal Demons, it was business as usual as their chemistry and experience took over-from the very beginning of the match. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for Team Cuba, who despite have the players are far away-from the chemistry required. In tonight’s case, five different players (M.Destounis, P.Santullo, M.Chenier S.Koulieris and D.Ugaldez each scored twice to get the better of S.Sauk. The Fatal Demons created plenty of openings that led to many odd man rushes. M.Trivissono still had his work cut out for him but fared well in net facing 24 shots for the win. E.Girouard provided some of the goal scoring for Team Cuba as the veteran as yet to slow down posting two rockets.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Troy Salberg of the Shockers. His third period hat trick made the difference in a close 6-4 win over the Lumberjacks.
