After strong start, Punishers run out of gas in second game

The Punishers knew they needed a good start to the night with their depleted line up to begin the season. With the help of A.Sarigianni's two first period goals, the Punishers had the luxury to play with the lead. Sarigiannis wasn't done yet picking up two more tallies to finish with a five point game. J.Fidrilis opened the scoring and added his second late in the contest as the captain collected three points. The Punishers accomplished what they needed to do but could they have repeated that same kind of effort in the second match. Unfortunately it just wasn't the case as the 1 Timer returned the favor .P-A Surprenant woke up-from the dead making a huge impact for the 1 Timer. The sniper bagged five out of clubs seven goals making the contest very difficult for the Punishers defense and net minder. With that kind of offensive explosiveness', the 1 Time will heavily rely on their big gun to produce on a regular basis.

Nightmares sound ball control leads to a pair of decisive wins

During most of the two mini games, the Nightmares strategy was to involve the defense as much as possible, often creating odd man rushes and scoring opportunities. And when the Anonymous gained control of the ball, all four players came back and played sound defensive hockey. This meant a lot of commitment with and without the ball for the Nightmares. Both games resulted in the same lopsided score ending the night a little earlier than usual. With so much fire power, P.Santullo and S.Sicuso each scored twice in the opening contest. The second game saw P.Santullo add two more tallies as the only player to score twice of the seven goals.It's not like the Anonymous didn't get their fair share of chances. Another problem for them was going up against O.Caillet, who stubbornly denied every single shot his way to earn back to back shutouts.

Breeze Panarezze gel just fine in season opener

It's always the case when you play with a short bench, hang back and wait for your chances. The Dragons did that very well in the opening contest battling to a 1-1 tie after one period. But how long can one team hang on ? Slowly but surely, the Breeze Panarezze found their openings and made sure to find the back of the net.A.Lanni snapped the tie and widened the margin six minutes later to give his side some breathing room. The last goal of that contest came shortly after when E.Girouard also buried his second of the game. Knowing that the Dragons would apply a similar game plan in the second game, the Breeze Panarezze took nothing for granted making sure to get a better start. It took only three minutes for S.Robineault and S.Govas to get on board which forced the Firebreathers to play catch up the rest of the night. Despite trailing by a pair, D.Gagnon did give some shred of hope pulling his team within one but the time just want there for the equalizer. The good news for the Firebreathers was that they put up a good challenge without some very key pieces. As for the Breeze Panarezze, the chemistry seems to be there for some players playing together for the first time.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Olivier Caillet of the Nightmares. Earning back to back shutouts in two consecutive games in this format is extremely hard to do but Caillet defied all odds to merit the player of the night.
