Immigrant fall short early but push the limit in second game with Rebels

It wasn't the kind of start Les immigrant was hoping for but the finish wasn't so bad considering how things went. The Rebels were clearly up for the challenge early on posting four first period goals. Led by their captain, D.Roy took matters into his own hands striking three times while setting up M-A Fortin, who also bagged a hat trick in a 6-2 decision. Les Immigrant did keep it close for most of the contest getting early scoring-from R.Lakhoyan and S.Jankouzian. However, with time passing by, the Rebels only got better. P.Boucher fared well once again in net stopping 13 of 15 shots. The second contest had a different storyline. Both sides limited the scoring but broke open in the shootout where they each traded two goals apiece. M.Thakaa and R.Lakhoyan figured P.Boucher out in the breakaways while M-A Fortin and B.Brissard responded for the Rebels. Out of a possible six points to the standings, the Rebels were pleased with their overall performance collecting five points. And while Les Immigrant fell short in that department, their finish to the night wasn't a bad one considering their slow start.

Double effort leads to gratifying points for the Underdogs

Even though the Underdogs collected some points in both games against a team-from the higher division, they may have still felt they deserved better. At no point throughout the entire night they once trailed. There style of relentless hockey took away-from any sort of game plan that the Mighty Drunks had in mind. Basically, the Mighty Drunks were forced to contain the Underdogs and patiently wait for their opportunities to arise instead. In Both games, the Underdogs led 1-0 & 2-1 before finding themselves to regulate it in a shootout. However, that could have been avoided if they capitalized on a given opportunity in the first game where they missed an empty net on a two on one play, and if they could have killed off four more seconds by the second encounter when P.Arkalis tied it with a blistering slap shot. Despite some bad luck, the Underdogs will keep their heads up after busting their tail all night. Both goaltenders were solid giving their side an equal chance to win the games. J.Stepania made that one extra save in a shootout giving him the slight edge over his counterpart M.Melo.

Jokers hit a difficult challenge

It's never easy taking on the Punishers no matter which team it may be. The Jokers knew this going in and felt it right away after giving up three quick goals by the 3:40 minute mark of the opening frame. Still, they battled hard and kept challenging the recent champs by striking twice with tallies- from A.Giorgios and M.Melo before the frame ended. Then, with a period remaining, the Punishers ran away with the contest. J.Chiropoulos, S.Bentivegna and C.Gingras each scored to collect their second goal of the match. The second contest was somewhat similar to the first encounter. The Punishers only really pulled away by the second frame posting three unanswered goals. Once again, S.Bentivegna made his presence felt. The Punishers forward snapped a 1-1 tie with a power play goal while adding his second to collect four goals in two games.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Jean Stepania of the Underdogs. With a difficult challenge in front of him, J.Stepania did not disappoint on this night. The net minder was stellar in both games versus the Mighty Drunks allowing only four goals on 39 shots.

1 timer roll up their sleeves and get back on track

The 1 Timer earned two wins on this night against the Walking Tall. Sloppy at times and needing big plays, the 1 Timer edged out their opponent 3-1 and 2-1 to collect six clean points. K.Gagne stood out the most in the first encounter scoring twice while setting up Y.Bernier. The second match was slightly closer as a second period tally by S.Lebel snapped a 1-1 tie that ultimately decided the outcome. It wasn't a great night for the Walking Tall's offense, who only scored once in each contest. F.Koch was surely the reason why the Walking Tall were snake bitten as the net minder denied all but two goals on 36 shots.

Corporation forced to make major investments after poor performance

One thing's for sure, not many teams will succeed against the Hustlers unless you play a solid game. In tonight's case, the Corporation took a valuable lesson and will have no choice to tweak up their game in order to compete. The difference showed by the second period where the landslide began. A 1-0 lead turned quickly into a four goal cushion and the Hustlers packed in an easy win. T.Bozinakis had a multi goal performance and M.Dagenais still made some key saves to preserve his shutout. As bad as that start was for the Corporation, the question became how would they respond in the second game. The answer to that question was simply the same. The only difference was that T.Bergomi was finally able to end the spell by figuring out M.Dagenais. Once again, T.Bozinakis was vital for the win collecting three more points that included two feeds on D.Bertrand's pair of goals.
