F.Gaudet-Peloquin stands tall in net

In both games, Les Immigrants offense managed only one goal. Maybe that's because F.Gaudet-Peloquin wasn't feeling generous on this night. The Walking Tall scored just enough winning 2-0 & 3-1 to collect two close victories. J-R Lemay opened and closed the scoring as the only player to get a pair past R.Ricaurte. Out of their 32 shot attempts, S.Jankouzian was the only player able to get the better of the corner stone net minder. M.Laroche, S.Scott and E.Gacem also went on to score for the Walking Tall, who collected their fourth win in ten games.

Rebels calm the storm to split miniseries with 1 Timer

The way the first game went, the Rebels knew they had to tighten up in the second game if they expected to collect points with the 1 Timer. Giving up six wasn't the way to go and that was adjusted with P.Boucher bouncing back with a 15 save effort.  The 1 Timer stormed out of the gates early on bagging three goals just six minutes in. M.Carpentier struck first while providing his second early in the second period for a three goal cushion. After a subpar performance, the Rebels showed some character by the second contest. This time, they returned the favor being the better side early on. They struck three times in the first and added their fourth thanks to their captain D.Roy, who buried his second to put the game out of reach. By then, the Rebels had only a shutout to protect but weren't able to because of M.Carpentier's late power play goal.

No clowning around, Jokers meant business on this night

Anytime you get off to an excellent start, the odds will always be on your side. The Jokers wasted no time igniting the action with three quick goals and the Underdogs were left wondering what had happened to them. Despite their bad start, the Underdogs avoided the snooze button and responded with a better second period. The only problem was that it came a little too late. Both sides traded three goals each that resulted in a 6-3 final. The second encounter was much closer, but the Jokers still had the better start forcing the Underdogs to play catch up. After being down twice, D.Mansour and his captain J.Constantin each scored to level the game. Neither side was able to get it done in regulation time which forced a three man shootout. It's very rare that all three players would prevail in the breakaways, but the Jokers defied the odds with S-A Longo, A.Dayan and G.Angelo all finding the back of the net.

Degenerates effort pays off in difficult battle with Hustlers

Within only five minutes-from the drop of the ball, some may have been wondering if the night would end earlier than usual. The Hustlers, and more so E.Girouard, popped in four goals by the 5:20 mark of the game that saw the sniper rifle three straight after A.Stamiris opened the scoring. But as ugly as that sequence may have been, the spirits of the Degenerates weren't totally shattered. By taking it one shift at a time, the confidence started to build up even though they knew they would not come back-from their deep hole. For the Degenerates, it was about finishing strong so that they can carry some good habits heading into the second encounter. And with that said in between games, the effort paid off. After playing to a 1-1 first period, S.Marricco did what he does best and that is to go to the net. The power forward battled his way through providing two big goals which was eventually followed with a power play marker by P.Paikopoulos. And even though a 3-1 lead appears to be comfortable, it never is against a team like the Hustlers. It took only two wicked slap shots 45 seconds apart-from T.Bozinakis to gear this match away-from his opponent. By that point, the contest appeared to be headed for a shootout until a desperate slap shot-from J.Melo said otherwise. M.Dagenais would have easily made that save an unlimited amount of times but didn't that time with only 6 seconds left on the clock.

Punishers keep showing why they are on top

In order to defeat the defending champs, a near perfect game may be required in order to do so. However, the Mighty Drunks weren't far off in both matches as one goal decided the first outcome and a very late tally was the difference in the second encounter. A.Dayan was the lone goal scorer in the 1-0 win. His tally came only 20 seconds into that game which gave a heavy duty task for P.Stamkopoulos to walk away with the shutout. The Mighty Drunks finally got on board by the second encounter, and actually led 2-1 by the second period when P.Arkalis snapped a 1-1 tie. But there was still plenty of work to be done in order to defeat the Punishers. Unable to get that extra insurance marker or hoping to secure a slight lead, the Mighty Drunks couldn't keep F.Russo off the score sheet. Still, the game was up for grabs and time was winding down towards the shootout. By then, anyone could have come up big and someone actually did a minute shy of regulation time. That player was A.Centis, who broke the barrier to help maintain a perfect 8-0 record for the Punishers.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Frederick Gaudet-Peloquin of Walking Tall. The net minder didn't give much to Les Immigrant, who only figured him out once on 32 shots.

Les Immigrant stifle Corporation with aggressive for check

Anytime a team buys into a game plan, the outcome is usually a good one. Les Immigrant kept it simple but worked extremely hard like they always do by making things very difficult for their opponent. The Corporation had barely time holding the ball and were forced to make quick plays due to the constant pressure. It was by the early stages of the second period that the first encounter tilted in one direction. R.Lakhoyan and A.Pederian each scored in a quick span to grab a 3-1 lead and R.Ricaurte knew he had the game secured making brilliant saves. With the first encounter out of the way, the Corporation tweaked some things around and made sure to prepare better in order to walk away with some dignity. And although it was a difficult task at hand, the veteran side took control of the situation. After tying the game 1-1, J.Morina helped set up the go ahead marker by P.Santullo only minutes later. By that point, Les Immigrant had way more than enough time to battle back and even the score. The problem however was that they couldn't create enough numbers as they were constantly guarded with a player in front of them. Also, add to the fact that S.Morante wasn't going to make it easy either by making save after save. In the end, both sides were satisfied with the results despite being in different divisions.
