Underdogs hound Corporation early

There was no mastermind reason why the first game ended the way it did. The Underdogs simply out worked a lazier side and got deservingly rewarded when they sparked three unanswered goals en route to a 4-1 win. B.Cabral tallied twice and his captain J.Constantin provided the winner while J.Shisha was stellar stopping all but one shot. Knowing that there was a second game, the question became how would the Corporation respond? That question didn't take long to get addressed. With J.Scalia cleaning up the mess in front of the net twice along with S.Sicuso's tap in goal, the Corporation got back to business. That lead proved to be more than enough, and actually got slightly larger when J.Scalia buried his hat trick. This time, L.Dias got credited the win in net over his counterpart J.Shisha as both goaltenders were definitely a big help in both games.

Punishers sweat out two nail biters vs Rebels

If the Punishers thought that they would have an easy night, than they had something else coming. Sure they won both games, but it wasn't anywhere close to what they might have expected. In case of the first encounter, the Rebels led 2-0 after one period which needed a full out second frame for the Punishers to reply with three straight markers. C.Gingras gave the Punishers their first lead with only two minutes remaining in that game. The second match had a different pattern, but still a very close call. This time, the Punishers stormed out of the gates building a massive 5-1 lead, and everything felt like roses until the Rebels decided that they had enough. That wide deficit almost instantaneously turned into a one goal lead for the Punishers. The Rebels, who looked to be down and out, woke up-from the dead getting two goals-from C.Belisle, and one each by H.Ethier and his captain D.Roy to mount the comeback. Even though the Rebels couldn't reach on time, they definitely gave the Punishers a serious run throughout both games which can't be said for most teams so far.

Jokers tighten noose in second match to even the score

It was a game that Les Immigrant could do no wrong. With many players contributing offensively and defensively, the 7-1 score felt gratifying for a team in search of more points. They scored in every way possible, from-two power play goals to a shorthanded marker while adding the rest even strength. B.Freitas-Pereira and A.Pederian had plenty to say for the victory as both players each scored twice combining for seven points. As good as this game felt for Les Immigrant, the same couldn't be said for the Jokers. The good news was that the Jokers had another opportunity to get things right. And after making the necessary adjustments, the end result speaks for itself. Somehow, the Jokers went-from allowing seven goals to barricading their cage. M.Melo wasn't pleased with what had just happened and responded with authority denying every single shot his way. The Jokers needed only A.Giorgios to get on board, but didn't take the chance by adding a second-from S-A Longo to earn a 2-0 shutout win.

One period not good enough for Degenerates

Even though both games ended in close results, the Walking Tall was clearly the better side for most of the night. They took the opening contest 2-0 with goals-from S.Scott and an empty net marker by L-P Beaupre. Throughout most of the match, the Degenerates had nothing working for them. They barely had the ball, and when they did, the Walking Tall would strip it away. Still, the night wasn't over and the Degenerates had the chance to redeem themselves. However, it was the same scenario all over again with the Walking Tall taking control with two first period goals courtesy of M-A Verville and E.Gacem. Then, things finally started to go right for the Degenerates. It took the fourth period of the night for P.Paikopoulos to finally solve F.Gaudet-Peloquin. After using his blistering slap shot to get on board, P.Paikopoulos decided to try it again which was a good thing as it tied the match 2-2. Neither side was able to grab the lead-from that point on leaving only a shootout to possibly decide it. Unfortunately for both teams, the net minders weren't budging. P.Assadi and F.Gaudet-Peloquin stopped all three breakaway attempts their way.

Hustlers sway away-from game plan in second encounter

From-winning a close 1-0 game to giving up five goals in the second contest was somewhat out of character for the Hustlers. Mind you, they did have only two changes but that shouldn't be an excuse against a side that had the same amount of players. The Mighty Drunks struggled to get their offense going up until the final frame of the second game. By then, they had only one get through M.Dagenais. Then, with only twelve minutes remaining, the flood gates opened. The Mighty Drunks went on a relentless attack notching four goals all coming-from different players. E.Antonopoulos did have his hand in the onslaught as the forward helped set up two while adding one himself. Overall, both teams did what they needed to do to earn their respective wins. J.Rochon was the lone goal scorer in the opening contest that saw M.Dagenais record a 16 save shutout. The second contest took a second wind for the Mighty Drunks to out battle and out hustle the Hustlers resulting in four second period goals.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Mathew Melo. Playing in both divisions as a net minder, M.Melo was a big reason why the Jokers rebounded for a 2-0 shutout win over Les Immigrant, and a 5-3 result against a high powered offense versus the Hustlers.
