(8)Smooth Sailors vs Underdogs (6)
Smooth Sailors hold off feisty Underdogs in nail biter
The Smooth Sailors just barely escaped with an 8-6 win over the Underdogs on Thursday night. It seemed like every time they would try and pull away the Underdogs would immediately respond. Tied 5-5 with less than four minutes remaining, L.Pennimpede regained the lead for the Smooth Sailors right before Marco Diaco widened the margin by two. Both players combined for five goals with Diaco leading the way with a hat trick. M.Testolina also scored twice as part of a four point night. As for the Underdogs, A.Khanafer took charge with a pair while F.Nasser was extremely productive accumulating four points.
(2)Legends vs SBS Trashers(2)
Third period power play goal propels Trashers past Legends
P.Manousos scored the tie breaking power play goal 4:20 into the third period, and R.Pampena made some high end saves to beat the Legends. Manousos snapped the tie thanks to a sweet pass-from F.Gentile. The Legends had more enough time to respond but struggled to create enough numbers as the SBS Trashers tightened the noose. K.Aruajo was the only player to figure out Pampena on a pair of wicked slap shots. This result improves the SBS Trashers to a 2-0 record while the Legends find themselves on the short end for a second straight week.
(6)United Arms Jr vs JLR Brossard(7)
J.Rochon paves way to victory on two key goals
It seems no matter how hard you try and play them, the JLR Brossard will always find a way to score plenty of goals. The only good news for the other team is that they give up nearly as many. The United Arms Jr discovered this as the game was going back and forth leaving only the third period to make the difference. Relativity quiet-from the score sheet throughout most of the match, J.Rochon kicked it into gear when it mattered the most. The power forward struck twice in less than a minute thanks to a pair of feeds-from G.Pisanelli, who collected a total of five points. Despite their hollow bench, the JLR Brossard have enough quality guys to generate offense. G.Pisanelli, J.DeStefano and J.Rochon each scored twice while S.Robineault notched a solo marker. The United Armenians Jr saw K.Kavan and G.Jerjian do most of the damage as both players combined for nine points.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Marco Diaco of the Smooth Sailors. By scoring three times while setting up three markers, the Smooth Sailors power forward couldn't be denied on Thursday night.
