HBHA Seniors defy the odds to secure first place

Having only four players dressed without any change ups, the HBHA Seniors did something remarkable versus the Left Over's. All they needed was to take one of two games in order to secure first place but that task didn't seem within reach considering the circumstances. Proof of it showed as early as the first encounter where the Left Over's dictated the pace en route to a 4-0 victory. Normally,that kind of pace and pressure would continue, especially when one team has ten players versus only four. Unfortunately for the Left Over's, everything that could have possibly gone wrong did. However, that isn't to take away-from how stellar E.Parent was in net. The goaltender was absolutely brilliant making plenty of key saves never allowing the Left Over's to score once in the final frame. With the score tied 2-2, the HBHA Seniors benefited on a very lucky bounce to crack the tie and eventually secure the win. G.Vouloumanos used two precise shots in the first period to beat G.Platanitis.

National and Family go the distance twice in exchanging shootout wins

While National celebrated taking the first encounter in a shootout, the Family was able to even the score with a shootout win of their own. Both games were so close that neither side ever took a lead after any frame. The only one constant was that the Family took the lead three times in the two games but kept getting a response by their opponent. S.Laplante was significant in the opener as the slick defenseman collected two points while rattling off the winner in the breakaways. The second game saw the tides turn in the shootout. With both sides sending three of their main players to take a turn at showing off their skill, M.Sasso was the only one to get his club on board. The Family was able to return the favour thanks to M.Sasso, and T.Borgia who stood tall denying all three attempts.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Eric Parent of the HBHA Seniors. For how well he played throughout four entire periods, the HBHA Seniors are glad to have secured first place due their net minders excellent performance between the pipes.

Both these games conclude the end of the regular season in Masters 35+ division. All four teams will be playing in next week's semi final round. The match ups are as follows:

(1)HBHA Seniors vs The Family(4) While many will expect this series to favour the HBHA Seniors, the Family have been turning some heads as of late. Tonight was another example of how difficult they are to play against. National had pretty much a stacked roster and were unable to grab a clean win on two opportunities.

(2)The Left Over's vs National (3) Its simple, limit your mistakes and the deserving team should prevail. This series will be played like a chess match. The Left Over's will need to avoid taking penalties while being aware of certain key players.
