Orient light up Punishers twice

The Punishers were missing in action Monday night falling twice to the hands of the Orient. C.Levesque had a strong showing dominating both games notching five goals and two assists .Goals just kept piling on, and the Punishers had no answers on how to stop the bleeding. In addition to C.Levesque’s influence in the two games, E.Harnois was just as lethal setting up six goals while adding a pair himself. The Punishers had a strong supporting cast but realised that a pair of key components were necessary on this particular night. As bad as it was, these regular season games will not affect a team with that kind of winning pedigree.

Season debut a learning curve for Orebro HC

Perhaps not knowing what to expect, the Orebro HC will take a lot-from their opening games versus the Classics. Sure, it will be an up hill battle, and a steep learning curve, but that’s expected for a younger squad facing a ton of experience. The Classics are an older and deeper team and there was no doubt it all came into play in both their victories. M.Destounis and D.Gagnon handled the opening match sharing two goals apiece while M.Mavroudis shined in the second encounter potting a hat trick and an assist. The Orebro HC got their lone tally in the first period of the opening game-from J.Straub. Even though things didn’t go well, the Orebro HC have young quick players that know how to handle the ball. There challenge will come down to putting it together.

Back and fort action leads to consecutive shootouts, Degenerates prevail with extra points over LG HC

There were big plays, big saves and big goals. There was plenty of back and forth action and despite the amount of goals that went in, both games still needed a shootout. The see saw effect in the opening contest saw the Degenerates pull back-from a 6-3 deficit after storming out of the gate on three straight goals. Neither side got an edge in the shootout which set the stage for another entertaining contest. Similar to the first game, the Degenerates overcame a two goal deficit including a late desperate marker to once again force a shootout. This time however, a winner was declared. D.Greco and L.Folini figured out M.Griffith while J.Atch stood firm denying both attempts-from the LG HC.

1 Timer pull away in second game after drawing with Excalibur

With both teams equal in terms of a short bench and tying the first game 4-4, the second match was expected to be somewhat similar to the first one. However, that didn’t transpire as the 1 Timer had their own plans. Y.Bernier,P-A Surprenant and K.Certosini had the Excalibur on the ropes as all three players flashed combining for eleven points. There was no question the Excalibur hurt themselves after battling neck in neck in the earlier match. They miss managed keeping it simple by limiting mistakes while defensively appearing ineffective giving up to much time and space. Regardless the reasons, tonight’s games will easily be forgotten knowing that they had plenty of missing players.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Christopher Levesque of the Orient. Although surrounded by a deep line up, C.Levesque made most of his plays count resulting in an impressive five goals and two assists.
