Snipers and ETNA split after going the distance in both games

The Snipers were able to show off their skill set in the shootout as all three players found the back of the net. Up 4-1 heading into the final frame, the Snipers should have never been put in this situation, but they managed to recover anyway by taking the win in the breakaways. J.Hassan led the charge scoring twice while adding a helper along with one of the three shootout goals. You almost knew that there would have been a response-from a team that finished strong only to fall short. ETNA imposed their will early on with goals by B.Travisano and A.Pittarelli. They came out hard and got paid off right away. However, they couldn’t keep it going long enough without a serious push back by the Snipers. The second encounter was almost a carbon copy of the first one with ETNA getting the edge in the end. Unable to hold onto their lead, ETNA gave up a very late power play goal that forced a second straight shootout. This time, M.Alfieri patiently waited out C.Malkoun to feed an empty cage, and J.Cardinal used a perfect shot to secure the win. Even though both sides had dug themselves in a hole, they managed each time to battle back out of desperation. Those are traits you want to see throughout your line up no matter what the circumstances are during a game. Tonight, the Snipers and ETNA showed that they are top contenders due to their skill set and perhaps just as importantly their will to win.

Brodie Boys cruise past United Arms without resistance

The Brodie Boys continued their dominant play at both ends of the court cruising past the United Arms on identical scores. It would be all Brodie Boys-from the time the ball dropped to the games final whistle. After jumping out to a 5-0 first period lead, the game was put to rest when A.Pietracuppa buried his hat trick for the seven goal mercy rule. You always hope to adjust after undergoing a lopsided defeat. The United Arms had the chance to start fresh and be much better, but they just couldn’t contain a superior opponent long enough. M.Moshopoulos and M.Koutouzis had each scored twice, and A.Mancini was feeling pretty good in net stopping the few shots he faced. There was no question that the United Arms felt discouraged by that point with nothing going their way. Rather than attempting to battle back, the United Arms just couldn’t keep pace dropping another similar result. M.Koutouzis overpowered his opponent riffling fours goals. T.Ferreira accumulated four points while A.Mancini went flawless collecting two shutouts in four periods of perfect hockey.

Guarnieri brothers each score twice, RCGT Knights edge out Country Club

It took some big plays at the right time for the RCGT Knights to separate themselves-from the Country Club. With both results so close, the two games could have gone either way. But when the games seem to be on the line, gamers often make that difference between wining and losing. In the first encounter, the Country Club looked to be in a good position up 4-3. Then, only a minute later, M.Guarnieri took over striking twice to put the RCGT Knights back in front. Following a tentative start between the two teams in the ensuing match, most of the action occurred in the second period thanks to M.Dupuis of the Country Club and S.Sauk of the RCGT Knights holding the fort in net. The two goaltenders gave their clubs every chance possible to steal the game. And while M.Dupuis was bailing his club out, there is only so much a net minder can do to preserve a clean sheet. The RCGT Knights scored what looked like two identical goals. Both plays stemmed-from the defensive side of the court where J.Morina fed a wide open but sneaky D.Guarnieri. The forward placed himself just at the right spot to receive the pass while using a pair of nifty fakes to beat out Dupuis. His second tally came with only two minutes left on the clock. The Country Club didn’t get any points out of a possible six, but could have easily picked some up if not for some late miss haps.

Assadi Consulting inc show more in second match after bad start to Dragons

Down 4-0 after the first period, everyone expected the Assadi Consulting inc to respond in an urgent manner. There is to much pride than to just throw away a game. To their credit, they responded on the back of J.Rochon, who tallied three times to make it a respectable final score. Usually a strong finish translates into a good start when playing in back to back games. The second encounter had a much different story line with the Assadi Consulting inc racing off to a better start. J.Courteau got the periods lone goal which may have suggested for a low scoring affair. That wasn’t the case however with both sides trading a ton of chances that resulted in a bunch of goals. It looked like the Assadi Consulting inc were on their way to a clean regulation win with the time winding down in its final minute. Then, with a clear sight-from centre court, P.Musto decided to wind up and deliver his patented slap shot that just got the better of P.Assadi. With that late tally, the game went on to be decided in the shootout where the Dragons owned the department thanks to a lone goal by A.Mirolla.

Degenerates tighten the screws making the second encounter a close call

Unless everyone is on board to playing a sound and structured defensive game while relying on your net minder, you almost have no chance of defeating the Classics if your-from the second division. The Degenerates didn’t approach the first contest the right way, and in the end, they paid the price having to endure a difficult two periods. Luckily enough they had another shot at getting it right, even though they didn’t capture any points to the standings. This time, everyone bought into playing a more aware defensive game while patiently waiting for the opportunities to arise. At one point, the Degenerates found themselves ahead 2-1 entering the final frame courtesy of S.Marricco’s two tallies. Still, the task was a tall order when having to go up against a solid team that have the two headed monsters leading the charge up front. You almost need your goaltender to steal the show and play lights out. That being said, R.Ranieri was proving to everyone that the improbable was looking more and more like realty. If it wasn’t for a top tier player coming-from behind the net on a wrap  around sling shot goal, the Degenerates would have had a chance to force at least a shootout. Instead, P.Karvouriaris did what natural goal scores do, and that’s to find a way to put the ball behind the net. His tally came with a minute and a half left in the game. M.Mavroudis would score shortly after, and the Classics needed every inch of the second game in order to defeat a resilient opponent.
