Canadiens pull away by mid way point versus Wild

F.Descoster scored two timely goals to lead the Canadiens to a 7-4, season opening victory over the Wild on Sunday night. Throughout half the game, the Wild bounced back twice but weren’t able to hang around long enough to keeping it close. Things started to shift when F.Decoster snapped a 3-3 tie followed with goals by F.Tessier and another by the very same Decoster. Four minutes was all it took for that sequence to occur. Considering some of the weapons that the Wild have in their line up, it came somewhat of a surprise that they went dry for at least twenty minutes. By the time they tallied their fourth goal by M.Destounis, the Canadiens had more than enough breathing room to cap off the win. L.Bucci closed it out with his second, F.Tessier scored twice as well, M.Pietrantonio set up three tallies while F.Descoster was the most productive finishing with five points

The Allo Mon Coco player of the game goes to F.Decoster of the Canadiens. After setting his clubs first three goals, F.Decoster turned the tides by striking twice in only four minutes to help pave the way for the Canadiens.

C.Pirone 4 goal game lifts Kings past Flyers in high scoring affair

Its usually hard to gauge where a game is headed when the defense and goaltenders are left out to dry . The Kings and the Flyers showed right away that they like to score goals at any cost. Each team had traded four goals each just prior to the thirty minute mark which suggested for a slugfest till the very end. However, that couldn’t be further-from the case as the Kings either adjusted their game or the Flyers simply fell apart. In the span of only seven minutes, the Kings erupted with five straight goals. C.Pirone began the offensive onslaught notching three straight for his side after scoring earlier in the match. Michael Musi fed off it by adding a pair, and the Kings appeared to be smooth sailing with about ten minutes left in the game. Not to be totally out done, the Flyers showed some character despite being in a massive hole with not much time left over. They scored the games next four of five goals to keeping the final score very respectable. M.Porato had a good season debut for the Flyers bagging a hat trick while E.Allen wont have issues putting up points capping off a two goals and two assists performance.

The Allo Mon Coco player of the game goes to Carmine Pirone of the Kings. Sometimes its not only how many goals you score but when you score them. C.Pirone had a monster night striking four times that included three in a row at a  key stage during the match.

Sabres cruise past Red Wings behind C.Zafiropoulos 5 goal display

The Sabres turned in a full 48 minute effort against a side that will be in search for answers. A big reason for this onslaught was quite simple. The Sabres have chemistry since some players have been together for a long time while the Red Wings will need time to figure each others tendencies. Maybe just a small modification here and there along exposure to one another will come a long way. For now, the Sabres looked seasoned already despite it being week one. C.Zafiropoulos continued-from where he left off with his ability to find the back of the net. The strong leader showed the way by riffling five goals and a pair of assists. M.Chenier and T.Longhi contributed as well with a pair of tallies, and M.Tzouvadakis turned aside 16 of 18 shots allowing only J.Testa and Z.St-Martin to get the better of him. Up until the twenty minute mark, the Red Wings held their ground able to keep pace with the Sabres. Unfortunately, things started to spiral out of control-from that point on, and the Sabres simply overwhelmed the Red Wings the rest of the way.

The Allo Mon Coco player of the game goes to Costa Zafiropoulos of the Sabres. What more can you ask -from a veteran presence. Not is he only vocal off the court, C.Zafiroupoulos makes just as much noise on the court by converting five times in his season debut.

Bruins battle back, but fall short to Islanders

Twenty solid minutes by the Bruins bookmarked a disastrous stretch after that in which they fell behind to the Islanders- a hole they would climb out of, only to be kicked back in. Spotting teams significant leads isn’t the way to go. That being said, at least the Bruins were able to push back only to fall short by a slight margin. A.Zakarian made the Bruins name proud by scoring a hat trick and an assist. The problem was that the Islanders had the extra horses on this night, and particularly the goaltending. E.Allen powered the offense by also sparking a hat trick while E.Nardelli cashed in twice that included the winner. Giving up six goals doesn’t usually reflect well on your net minder, but that didn’t apply in tonight’s case between these two teams. T.Kotsiris made at least four jaw dropping saves to help keep the lead going for the Islanders.

The Allo Mon Coco player of the game goes to Theo Kotsiris of the Islanders. As it often happens goaltending will influence the outcome of a game. In tonight’s case, T. Kotsiris made the difference by stopping many quality shots to hang on to a close 8-6 win.
