Islanders rally past Canadiens in seesaw, high-scoring affair

(8)Canadiens vs Islanders(11)

It was a terrific game, with lots of ebb and flow and plenty of feeling. At first, the Islanders thought that it was going to come easy jumping out to a 2-0 lead. Then, it was the Canadiens turn to take over with the games next five goals powered by F.Tessier’s two tallies and an assist. You have to think that a response as such will bring you a long way if you’re the Canadiens. Instead, the reverse happened again, and this time the Islanders stormed back on an enormous push with the games next seven of nine goals. Many chipped in with T.Passarelli showing his scoring touch once more by netting a hat trick. C.White was feeling it as well notching a pair, and M.Kardum couldn’t be held back accumulating six points. There was no doubt it was a fun game to watch, and perhaps for the Islanders since they got it done. However, the Canadiens may not feel much of the enthusiasm as they let go of what appeared like a commanding lead after bouncing back-from a slow start.

The Allo Mon Coco Ste-Dorothee player of the game goes to Frank Vitoratos of the Islanders. Highly involved-from the drop of the ball, F.Vitoratos was the engine that sparked the Islanders offense scoring once while setting up four teammates.

F.Mastrocola and C.Decotis combine for 12 points in rout of Blackhawks

(2)Blackhawks vs Kings(10)

Its not like the Blackhawks don’t have the right type of players on how to try and defend properly. Sometimes you are stuck having to go through a difficult time when nothing appears to going right. But even at that, you just cant give up goals at that kind of a rate. The Kings seemed to be scoring at will on nearly every chance they generated which can only discourage an entire team which was the case for the Blackhawks. All ten of the Kings goals were scored in the span of twenty four minutes. A.Zardarian was the one stuck feeling it more as the defenceless net minder had no control on how his unit in front of him was able to adjust. When it rain it pours, and the Kings struck with plenty of lightning and thunder during that stretch. While many contributed, F.Mastrocola and C.Decotis had identical high numbers by the time it was said and done as both players notched hat tricks while collecting three assists each. Perhaps the only bright moment for the Blackhawks occurred early when Ari Daghlian got the games first goal.

The Allo Mon Coco Ste-Dorothee player of the game goes to Scott Sauk of the Kings. S.Sauk may tell you himself that he wasn’t overly busy, but that doesn’t deny the fact that the netminder was occupied enough allowing only two goals in nearly an hour.

K.Labelle shines in crazy finish for the Bruins

(7)Panthers vs Bruins(9)

Sometimes it just takes a really good start in order to accomplish your goals. Since winning is the ultimate prize at the end of the tunnel, the Bruins did a fantastic job to catch the Panthers off guard, and build a nice 4-0 lead. All four goals came-from a balanced attack needing no one to be a real hero. You would have to figure such a lead would bring you a long way. It seems often enough that nothing is secured no matter what the circumstances are. Hockey can be cruel at times when things don’t go your way. The Bruins saw everything they had worked for disappear in about a ten minute span. Out of nowhere, the Panthers decided to wake up, and take over rattling off five unanswered goals to take its first lead of the game. M.Paciencia started it off by netting back to back tallies before setting up G.Missakian. R.Marshall would be the one who broke the 4-4 tie for the Panthers, who looked like they could do no wrong. This contest was now far-from being decided as an exiting finish to the night was left to unfold. The Bruins did catch the next breaks to regain the lead, but that barely lasted as the Panthers fought back twice to level with only two minutes remaining. Then, a late penalty by the Panthers set up a golden moment for K.Labelle to shine. And to his credit, Labelle delivered by snapping a very late tie enabling his side to defeat a very good Panthers team.

The Allo Mon Coco Ste-Dorothee player of the game goes to Kevin Labelle of the Bruins. Not only did Labelle come through in the clutch, the forward had a productive game collecting four points.

Kraken couldn’t hang long enough as the Sabres pull way

(5)Kraken vs Sabres(11)

The Kraken were holding their own for a while keeping it close, but at the end of the day, they couldn’t  insulate M.Rodriguez long enough as the net minder was stuck bearing the burden of shots he faced. You just cant play a style to trade chances with the Sabres unless you have the offense to match them. That was exposed in this game with C.Zafiropoulos, A.Zafiropoulos, T.Angelis and M.Chenier causing fits for the Krakens defense and goaltender. C.Zafiropoulos stationed himself at the right place near the net where he has only to tap in shots that come-from nice crisp passes. You almost have to stay next to him the entire time if you want him off the score sheet. The problem with trying to neutralise one player, you end up leaving other quality guys open which is the case for the Sabres. It would take a collective effort to keep up with them in order to beat them. Tonight, the Kraken couldn’t match them one on one which started to show as the game went on .A.Zafiropoulos racked up five points, A.Angelis had four points, J.Martuccio, M.Chenier along with P.Desforgers all had three points each in the win. As for the Kraken, B.DeIeso and M.Estrela did their part combining for six points.

The Allo Mon Coco Ste-Dorothee player of the game goes to Costa Zafiropoulos of the Sabres. His three timely goals early on set the path to victory for the Sabres as the veteran had another big night collecting seven points that included five goals.

Flyers use late push only to fall short to the Predators

(9)Predators vs Flyers(7)

The Flyers did their best to mount a comeback, trailing 8-3 at one point. But a four goal response would be all the Flyers could muster to try and close the gap as they barely fell to the Predators on Sunday night. Its not like the Flyers will have issues scoring goals this season. The challenge for them is trying to prevent them-from going in. In order for that to happen, everyone needs to buy into playing better without the ball. The Predators exposed the Flyers early on doing most of their damage offensively. S.Marricco, although a temporary addition was perhaps the main reason why his side closed out their chances. The power forward had a field day striking four times due to his front of the net presence. Not even a solid core of defensive guys such as E.Allen, C.Doulis and the infamous B.Panarello were able to contain the goal scorer. After enduring a brunt of the damage, the Flyers weren’t planning on going down that easy. As a matter of fact, they made things extremely interesting in the latter stages of the match. Luckily enough for the Predators, time was on there side as they rode it out just before the Flyers got there.

The Allo Mon Coco Ste-Dorothee player of the game goes to Sandro Marricco of the Predators. Even if you try and contain him, the power forward will find a way to bury his chances. The Predators took this one with the huge help of his four tallies.
