P.Karvouriaris shorthanded goal, the turning point for the Punishers win

The special teams department played perhaps the reason why this contest got decided in favour of the Punishers, but not in your typical fashion. With the game deadlocked 1-1 by the mid way point into the third period, the Altius couldn’t have asked for a better chance to climb in front. They had a very long four minute power play along with the fact that it was C.Gingras serving the penalty. Its always nice to avoid having a lethal shorthanded player on the court. That being said, the problem is that the Punishers have two of those types of players in their bag of tricks. After a hard fought play by M.Mavroudis to win the ball, P.Karvouriaris was there in his sweet spot to snap the tie and put the Punishers in front just past the mid way point of the frame. Since that tally came fairly early, the Altius had more than enough time to even the score. No matter how well they kept moving the ball to create lanes, C.Ekonomakis was there to deny the Altius. The net minder was stellar as expected facing some solid chances with his composed and aggressive style to stop the ball. Tonight was an example of how very good teams keep finding ways to win. While the Punishers look invincible right now ,the Altius do have plenty to feel good about. If not for an avoidable breakdown, things could have easily turned out different.

Armadillos endure painful third period collapse

This will be one that will sting for a while for the Armadillos. In a collapse of epic proportions, the Assadi Consulting inc roared back-from a 7-2 deficit to stun the Armadillos in overtime. In order for this to happen, a few things had to go wrong for one side while extraordinary circumstances have to occur for the other side. It can be easily argued that the Armadillos had no business surrendering a five goal lead after two periods. Whether it’s the defence or goaltending, its just unacceptable. On the other hand however, the Assadi Consulting inc showed plenty of guts by never giving up. Of coarse its going to take every player to step up and make every inch of their game count. That being said, its always nice to have a gamer in your line up. J.Mandracchia was at his trademark best rolling off three straight goals while setting up J.Rochon for the equaliser before netting the sudden death winner on a brilliant play. Mandracchia looked uncontainable against a defence that should have done better. When a player steps up his game like he did, the team feels it. The Assadi Consulting inc didn’t have much to show for in their season record so far, but that may change after tonight’s performance. Wins will help you, but you always have to keep improving. For now, it’s a good turn of events for the Assadi Consulting inc, who look forward to challenging anyone.
