Degenerates respond after blowout loss to ETNA

The Degenerates were keen on delivering a response. Not happy with the dud they put forth on Monday night in a lopsided setback to ETNA, the Degenerates were not interested in suffering a second straight loss. Its never easy coming off a beat down while having barely anytime to regroup and erase a terrible finish. However, the Degenerates showed good character and resilience as they made sure to play with more focus and determination. They got that early goal-from S.Marricco, and a quick response by P.Paikopoulos to put the Degenerates back in front heading into the final frame. Ultimately, the game got decided in a two minute span where they rattled off three straight goals. S.Marricco would cap off his hat trick in an empty net right after O.Valiquette fed the empty cage as well. ETNA couldn’t have asked for a better start to their night as they barely did anything wrong in the first game. M.Alfieri was a menace posting a hat trick while M.Stoico was stellar in net allowing only O.Valiquette to beat on two occasions.

Country Club face barely any resistance in easy wins over Mighty Pooches

The Country Club took both their wins without breaking much sweat versus the Mighty Pooches. Unlike their previous encounters, the Mighty Pooches didn’t show a whole lot in their two losses to the Country Club. Both games ended early in the second period on identical 7-0 scores. C.Payette had a field day striking five times in the first encounter, and followed up by adding two more in the second match. G.Dumont and F.Proulx also added a pair each while M.Dupuis turned aside the few shots he faced in order to record a pair of shutouts. It could be discouraging when you know you are out of the game. The Country Club used two strong starts to put the games out of reach which clearly affected the mind set of the Mighty Pooches.

Kings lay down the hammer after meltdown in earlier contest to Assadi Consulting inc

It wasn’t pretty, but the Assadi Consulting inc banked some points, at least in their first game. Trailing 3-1 after the Kings appeared to be in total control, the Assadi Consulting inc pulled off an incredible comeback bagging three straight goals in only four minutes. The comeback effort was led by N.Kokividis, P.Arkalis and J.Courteau, who buried his second for the winner. While they managed to pull off the win, the sense of urgency was dormant in the second encounter for the Assadi Consulting Inc. Although they had their moments, D.Delaronde wasn’t having it , stopping everything in sight which only inspired his club to feed off his brilliant goaltending performance. The Kings would slowly build their lead which ended up being a landslide win when it was said and done. D.Lombardi had his hand in four of the six goals while C.Daymond collected back to back tallies. It just took a little spark early on for the Kings to recuperate and play a solid second match. Surely, they would have preferred both after being in control with a 3-1 lead, but that can happen sometimes when things don’t go your way. In the end, its the way to finish that counts, and the Kings did an excellent job capping off their night.

Brodie Boys close out a crazy finish to their night with Dragons

The Dragons were plagued by some lapses versus the Brodie Boys on Monday night, especially in the first game where they were nowhere to be seen. It certainly wasn’t expected to finish the way it did. Losing is one thing, but to be annihilated the way the Brodie Boys thumped their opponent was just out embarrassing. Luckily enough their was a second game for the Dragons to try and bounce back and save some face. You almost had to expect it to be way closer for a side that has the quality and the pride to avoid repeating a second blunder. That being said, it looked as though the Brodie Boys were on their way to another an easy win after posting a 3-0 lead. Then, something changed, and the Dragons finally woke up and came to play. The first period was in its final minute where the Dragons went on a tear riffling three straight goals of their own to tie the game at three goals apiece.  All of a sudden, there was a hockey game. The action continued on a rapid and constant pace that saw both sides try and out do each other. At one point, the Dragons found themselves up 6-5 thanks to A.Mirolla’s hat trick by nearly the ten minute mark of the period. In order to close out a game, you need to play till its final seconds. The Dragons have way to much experience for how they laid an egg to the Brodie Boys. Not only did they give up the equaliser to M.Koutavas with 33 seconds left, A.Pietracupa put the final dagger only moments later to stun the Dragons. Despite how both games went, the Dragons cant use the approach of playing with a much shorter bench compared to what the Brodie Boys floored. Your only asking for trouble trying to compete with players that are generally younger with a lot more stamina.

RCGT Knights glad to earn a split after a lopsided finish to Snipers

The RCGT Knights managed to earn a split against a very difficult opponent. In a close, intense match up, the RCGT Knights were able to outlast the Snipers before enduring a blowout loss by the second game. F.Vitoratos scored by the mid way point of the second period to lift the RCGT Knights to a close 2-1 victory. The ensuing match did have a very different story line as it resembled nothing to the first game. The Snipers launched their offense on seven goals that saw N.Atoui have a strong first period posting back to back tallies. Unable to bounce back into the game, the RCGT Knights lost grip of the situation almost immediately entering the final frame. H.Awada notched his second right before the captain Ali Khanafer strung two very quick goals to put the game out of reach. It showed by the second encounter that the Snipers were able to use speed in order to over power the RCGT Knights. Unless you play ahead, the Snipers are very difficult to play catch up against.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Tommy Ferreira of the Brodie Boys. In what was a wild and crazy game versus the Dragons, T.Ferreira was a thorn scoring once while setting up three goals that included a very big play at the end of the game that helped snap a 6-6 tie.
