Horsemen battle back twice but lose in overtime to Sonic

The Horsemen fell behind by a pair of goals on two occasions, but managed to claw their way back into the game only to lose out in overtime. Twice they hoped to build off their momentum swing, and twice Sonic managed to stop the pressure with the games next goal. A.Amicone used a deceptive back hand to beat M.Vinciguerra in the extra time. Most goaltenders cant really read where the ball is headed when players use their backhand, especially with a couple of bodies in front of you. Once teams reach the sudden frame, the formula isn’t complicated knowing that any shot could decide the outcome. The Horsemen missed out on a few plays to end it earlier. A.Michalidis needed to be good in net for Sonic as he delivered making the necessary stops at key moments during the game. Five different players chipped in with goals for the victory with M.Pace leading the charge on three points. As for the Horsemen, M.Mamoulides had a strong season debut recording two goals and a helper.

Snipers use big third period to pull away-from Flying Squirrels

There was no doubt the Flying Squirrels played a heck of a game for at least two full periods. The contest remained extremely close up until the nine minute mark of the final frame when the Snipers felt comfortable about their three goal lead. Up only 3-2, the Snipers used a big power play goal by H.Sobh to make the score 4-2. Even though the Flying Squirrels were still in it with plenty of time left over, its very difficult to battle back against a team that has the ability to shut you down. The Snipers don’t give up much room out there, and are committed to picking up their man without the ball. You almost need to play in front in order to have a legit chance of beating them. Since the game remained within reach, the Flying Squirrels were glad to be in a close race knowing that anything can happen.  Unfortunately, they couldn’t get that next step to play in front when the game was locked up at two goals apiece. In the end, the Snipers just kept at it, and got rewarded by the third period where they pulled away. H.Salman , Ali Khanafer and A. Sayed shared three points each in the win.

Van Doos Hc post a pair of shorty’s in shutout win versus Brew Crew

The Van Doos Hc kept drawing penalties and scoring goals. When they were in the penalty box , it was tough to tell which team actually had the advantage. A.Papazian and N.Chiminian each scored shorthanded, and the Van Doos Hc showed that they meant business. Its not often the Brew Crew will lay an egg. Tonight, everything that could go wrong went wrong for the Brew Crew, who will look at this game as one to forget as soon as possible. Falling behind 2-0 isn’t ideal, but the Brew Crew had their chances to bounce back after finding themselves on the power play. Unable to capitalise, they surrendered two straight goals with the man up. You know you aren’t have a good night when nothing is going right. While the Brew Crew kept breaking down, the Van Doos Hc couldn’t have asked for a better display of hockey. From-the drop of the ball, every thing went right for a team running on all cylinders. They scored two shorthanded goals, one with the man up while playing a flawless defense game that saw their net minder J.Liopoulos turn aside a 24 save shutout. N.Tsatsaronis and N.Chiminian were their best players up front combining for eight points that saw the two players convert on two occasions.

P.Paikopoulos magic wrap around goal breaks late tie for Fatal Demons

In a game that could have gone either way got decided late on a brilliant effort by P.Paikopoulos, who used his long reach on a wrap around play to stuff the ball right behind the net minder. The game was perhaps predicted to be a close affair with the Fatal Demons missing a few of their players going up against a younger and deeper team. It was all about playing it smart for the older side. The Fatal Demons simply sat back, picked up their man, and made their few forwards take care of the scoring. M.Destounis took care of that department producing for primary assists that saw M.Chenier benefit twice. Since the Fatal Demons were undermanned, the RCGT Knights did take advantage at times staying neck and neck with a solid opponent. Two out of their four goals came with the man advantage courtesy of M.Dupuis and J.Azoulay while J.Prevost and J.Senay were explosive collecting three points each. Unfortunately for the RCGT Knights, one big play by P.Paikopoulos toward the end of the game made the difference.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Marino Destounis of the Fatal Demons. Behind most of the Fatal Demons goals, M.Destounis knows how to find the open guy, making strong and precise passes that led to four helpers.
