Degenerates cruise for a pair of wins over Mighty Pooches

The Degenerates found no resistance in the first of two games versus the Mighty Pooches. By the time the period ended, the game was nearly put to rest. O.Valiquette would notch his second early in the ensuing frame, and the both sides took an early break preparing for the next encounter due to the seven goal mercy rule. Although much was expected for the Degenerates to repeat a similar performance, the second game saw the Mighty Pooches put more bite into their game. They happened to be more involved into trying to slow down their opponent. The contest stayed and remained close for nearly the entire time until O.Valiquette bagged his second for a 4-0 lead to reassure the win. At times, the Mighty Pooches got in close enough to bury some decent chances. B.Mourad wasn’t overly busy, but made those few extra saves in order to preserve two shutouts.

Snipers make statement in double rout of ETNA

ETNA can argue they had an average game dropping their first one 4-2 versus the Snipers. However ,they have no excuses other than putting out a terrible effort in their second encounter where they were no where to be seen. The Snipers weren’t messing around on Monday night making a huge statement that they are the real deal of the Monday night division. You would have expected these two teams to battle till the finish line only to see a lopsided affair take place instead. Whatever went wrong, its clear that ETNA just didn’t have it going up against a side that took no time to settle in their stride. They were absolutely not there, and could have only hoped at one point for the game to come to an end. If there is one thing that you should expect-from the Snipers is that they’ll never take a night off. From-the drop of the ball, every single player will run down their opponent in order to gain ball possession. And when a team keeps the ball long enough, goals will eventually come. J.Hassan used two key markers to help capture a 4-2 win in the first game while their captain Ali Khanafer riffled a natural hat trick en route to a 7-0 thumping. He didn’t score, but F.Nasser collected five helpers, and M.St-Laurent limited a very good scoring team to only two goals in four periods.

Classics keep scoring at will in thumping of Kings

The last thing you want going up against the Classics is a bad start. Unfortunately for the Kings, they got hit hard in the first game down 5-0 before finally getting on board. You almost have no choice to play a run and gun style game if you plan on bouncing back. And considering how things went, the Kings actually faired well in the end trading four goals each by the second period. Still, its not good enough unless you are content for how the final score looks like. But the Kings have more pride than that, and want nothing more than to be the first team to hand the Classics a loss. Yes, perhaps a tall order, but anything is possible when two good teams go at it. The problem was that the Kings couldn’t slow down a side that continued to press despite keeping it close after one period. It was by the second frame where the gap opened up with the Classics overwhelming the Kings on six unanswered goals. Of coarse, C.Gingras and P.Karvouriaris made a mess out there collecting a ton of points as did A.Kakivelis, M.Mavroudis , C.Kakivelis and M.Destounis.

RCGT Knights fall apart giving up early goals in second game to Country Club

Sometimes coming off a close loss in a two game format isn’t necessarily a bad thing, especially knowing that its feels better getting that second win in a split series. The problem was that the RCGT Knights fell apart giving up four goals in the first six minutes alone of that second encounter. They were actually beat by one player who single handily took control of that stretch. C.Payette went on a tear bagging a fast hat trick in only four minutes right before R.Saleri collected his second point for a 4-0 lead. Now, rather than calling it quits, the RCGT Knights did respond in trying to keep the game within reasonable margin. At one point, A.Lacroix notched his second early in the final frame to cut the deficit to 5-3. That tally left nearly an entire period for the RCGT Knights to try and bounce back. Since time wasn’t an issue, other factors got in the way. The Country Club tightened the bolts a little harder, and M.Dupuis made sure to remain focused by not allowing that next one to go in. And in the end, the Country Club preserved their lead en route to claiming six key points to the standings.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Martin St-Laurent of the Snipers. Giving up only two goals that includes a shutout against a high powered offense like ETNA only suggests that your net minder had plenty to do with it. St-Laurent was solid on Monday night enabling his side to grab a pair of nice wins.
