P.Arkalis powers Altius in comeback win to end Punishers streak

Delivering an outstanding performance, the agile and crafty P.Arkalis powered the Altius to a come-from behind victory, and who better than to do it versus the Punishers. Again, it looked as though the Punishers were on their way to an easy night after being up 4-1 at one point. The Altius gave up two early goals, and struggled to get much going up front striking once in nearly two full periods. Then, P.Arkalis happened, and the Altius did something remarkable by stunning the division leaders. The skilled forward used a late second period goal to set the standard of what was expected to come in the final frame. After setting up A.Kobayati to pull within one, P.Arkalis wasn’t done yet, adding two more big tallies that finally put the Altius in front for the first time during the night. For nearly the entire game, the Punishers led until their was only 30 seconds left on the clock. While the Altius will take this as a feel good win, the Punishers will learn-from this lesson that its never over till its over. Usually, their killer instincts will finish off any opponent, but that didn’t happen in this particular game. Maybe they can look back at this as a blessing in disguise for the next time they are put in the same situation.

A third period surge of goals by the Armadillos made the difference as a slight 3-2 lead ballooned into a hug gap by the third period. Both teams played it close, and the goaltenders kept their clubs in it for two solid periods. But the Armadillos picked up the slack in the third striking five times to distant themselves by a reasonable margin. It was one of those onslaughts that saw many players contribute offensively. L.Panetta did have that extra tally, and G.Bouchard was his usual controlling a good chunk of the play-from the back end resulting in four points. The Armadillos did also a fine job on their power play converting on two out of a possible three occasions. After a very slow start to the regular season, the Armadillos are glad to get back to their winning ways.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Peter Arkalis of the Altius. Of coarse its takes an entire team effort in order to collect wins, especially against a team that doesn’t lose much. However, no one can deny that P.Arkalis was the catalyst behind the Altius impressive come-from behind victory on Wednesday night. Arkalis carried the load posting three goals and an assist to help defeat a very good hockey team.
