Generals suffer first defeat to hands of Chiefs

For the first time this season, the Generals looked tired from-winning. There passes were often cut, and their chances got denied by a goaltender that was sharper than a razor blade. P.Delli Colli had no choice but to be exceptional. And when a team knows that they can rely on goaltending, the offense will follow. The Chiefs did an excellent job overall on every area of their game. Its nice having a player like F.Dominianni reading plays and transition them into outlet passes that creates space for the forwards. All you need is to convert a few times to give yourself a chance. On their few occasions, the Chiefs made sure to bury as many goals as possible if they planned on handing the Generals a loss this season. You just cant afford to close out a tight game by only playing defense. The approach was to keep at it on a relentless effort. A.Zarzour used a big power play goal early in the third period to widen the gap by three. He later added an empty net marker making sure that this contest was over and done with. Maybe the Generals aren’t pleased with the end result, but sometimes these types of games need to happen in order to put things into perspective. This was their first of two games on the night, where they’ll try and rebound taking on the Warriors.

Brewers rally but fall in overtime to United Masters

A.Minassian scored his second goal late into overtime, and the United Masters recovered-from blowing a 4-0 lead after two periods. Buried into a 4-0 hole, the Brewers clawed and clawed until C.Stamadianos bagged his second late in the final frame to force overtime. There cant really be an explanation to how a team squanders such a lead. Maybe they take the foot off the pedal, or maybe the other team finally put their act together after a  sloppy start. Whatever the reasons, the United Masters sighed relief thanks to Minassian winning a board battle that saw him in front of C.Stavriadis, who just couldn’t read where the shot went. Certainly, the Brewers showed plenty of character by battling back the way they did. While that’s always a good attribute in any teams make up, its also very important to be ready at all times. If the Brewers could have showed up a little earlier, things could have turned out much different. Instead, it was the United Masters that came ready to play, build a sufficient lead, and ultimately take it in the end.

Generals wont make it two in a row against a depleted Warriors team

It was almost a given before the game started  that the Generals would have rattled the Warriors. There at least two main reasons why this contest wasn’t going to be close. First off, the Generals came off an earlier loss to the Chiefs, and second off, the Warriors had only two players to change with on the bench. Talk about a recipe for disaster. Even though the first period ended only 2-0, that was because C.Araujo kept it that way. The net minder was beyond lights out making a bunch of incredible saves to keep this game close. The problem is that you can only sustain so much pressure. And since the Generals were in full throttle it was inevitable that the goals would be coming in more frequent. Still, the Warriors and C.Araujo kept defending best they could allowing only two more goals to find themselves down 4-0 after two periods. However, once the third period hit, fatigue and the lack of focus became more evident for the Warriors, who simply couldn’t keep up anymore. The Generals would simply run up the score on five more consecutive goals to cap off the night. M.Laurin led the charge up front posting a hat trick, K.Duplin notched a pair, and Y.Dupere was there to turn aside every shot he faced to record a shutout.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Paolo Delli Colli of the Chiefs. No doubt he was influential in helping defeat a team that doesn’t lose much. As the game went on, Delli Colli kept a high powered offense to only a pair of goals which enabled his side to build off it en route to a well earned victory.
