Sonic playing with fire on short bench

(4)Sonic vs Brew Crew(9)

You know that you are already in trouble before the ball drops. Sonic had one simple approach, and that’s to try and keep this game as close as possible by hanging back while relying on B.Madonis to steal the show. For sure it sounds easier said than done, but  there isn’t really any other way to go about it. The unfortunate part was that the Brew Crew didn’t mess around and took them seriously-from the get go despite falling behind 1-0. They responded on five unanswered goals in what appeared to be more than a sufficient lead. Since Sonic was rotating only two changes, it only made sense that they were headed for a lopsided defeat. However, that wasn’t entirely the case. M.Pace is the player he is because of his competitive nature. So matter what the situation is during a game, that wont slow him down even if he knows the task is a tall one. The fierce forward finished off the second period by collecting his second goal and third point to pull Sonic within a pair. Now that the game wasn’t yet decided, the Brew Crew made sure to use their deeper bench to out last Sonic by the time it was said and done. That’s when D.Verta took charge posting back to back goals as part of a seven point night.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Danny Verta of the Brew Crew. No question the crafty forward was on top of his game collecting a ton of points to lead all players.

M.Destounis, M.Mavroudis and T.Langiano connect for 19 points

(10)Fatal Demons vs Flying Squirrels(3)

It really didn’t take long for the Fatal Demons to find their rhythm. Only six minutes in, and the Flying Squirrels found themselves in a hurdle down 3-0. It was a game that M.Destounis, M.Mavroudis and T.Langiano drove plenty of the offense. The trio combined for 19 points clicking with barely any resistance. Its expected to happen when you are stuck chasing the same three players without a solution on how to slow them down. At one point, the Flying Squirrels focused on getting at least one by R.Ranieri, who stood firm for nearly two periods. M.Petros finally gave his side something to cheer about by getting to the Fatal Demons goaltender late in the second period. Even with the game out of reach, the Flying Squirrels kept battling and got rewarded two more times on goals by M.Leake and S.Saintil.

Snipers dismantle sluggish Horsemen

(6)Snipers vs Horsemen(2)

Any team can give it all early on since the energy levels aren’t spent. That being said, it becomes a question of time before it starts to show. In tonight’s case going up against a well rounded Snipers team, the Horsemen started to slowly fall a step behind, and because of it, they paid the price in the end. Winning loose balls along with keeping it on your stick long enough usually goes a long way. The Snipers kept a good part of their possession which eventually turned into some high end chances. The game started to shift away-from the Horsemen early in the third period when D.Mansour scored his second for a 5-1 lead. It wasn’t like the Horsemen had enough quality chances where they can look back at and wonder what could have been. Due to their lack of shots toward the net, this result was inevitable with the Snipers being the better of the two sides. D.Mansour went on to collect fours points, F.Nasser chipped in with a pair, and the Snipers got what they deserved.

Brew Crew getting full team effort in rout of RCGT Knights

(6)Brew Crew vs RCGT Knights(2)

That’s what happens when a team gets production up and down their line-up while playing hard for one another. The Brew Crew again played hard, smart and with plenty of determination on Thursday night. Six different players scored, the power play gelled with J.DeSua and A.DeSua capitalising, and C.Muccino did his part allowing only two goals on 17 shots.  There is no doubt that long time chemistry is a very big part of it. The RCGT Knights have a good blend of players with experience and youth, but don’t have the years experience that the Brew Crew have as a collective group. Unless you play a near perfect game, its very difficult to beat them on a full squad. The game was 4-0 favouring the Brew Crew before S.Tessier finally got the RCGT Knights on board by the ten minute mark of the second period. Sometimes a spark can lead to a momentum swing, but not in tonight’s case as the Brew Crew responded with two more tallies to put this one in the books.

Van Doos Hc keep looking unstoppable

(1)Sonic vs Van Doos Hc(6)

The Van Doos Hc went into the game rolling and looking to keep their unbeaten run alive. They picked up right where they left off emerging into another successful night. Every aspect of their game is working, and tonight was just another example of it. Starting with their aggressive pace offense that resulted into six goals. Playing without the ball is also vital for a good result. The Van Doos Hc allowed only a first period goal by M.Arcaro before J.Liopoulos went perfect the rest of the way in net. And sometimes you get a specific player elevating their game that also helps like in the case of N.Chiminian, who scored in every frame to complete a hat trick. N.Kokovidis complements the back end whistling off three nice primary passes while reading and breaking up plays. All in all, just another well earned win for a side that’s running on all cylinders. Sonic entered tonight’s contest with a much deeper bench compared to yesterdays game versus the Brew Crrew. In hopes of using it to their advantage, they weren’t able to compete hard enough against a strong opponent. Surely M.Pace would have helped enormously, but that still doesn’t excuse the fact that they should have done better.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Dominic Mansour of the Snipers. Heavily involved, the fierce forward was all over the court nothing two goals along with a pair of helpers.
