Mighty Pooches outmatched in all areas of the game versus ETNA

You know you just aren’t in it when you give up three shorthanded goals in a row. The Mighty Pooches crashed head first heading into the tail end of the opening frame allowing three goals with a man short. Shorthanded goals are not easy to come, but D.Petreccia and M.Alfieri were able to combine for six points during that short stretch. It looked all to familiar for the Mighty Pooches, who unfortunately cant find ways to adjust and make it more difficult for their opponent. They simply cant measure up which only discourages you as the season winds down. A few factors are always required to remain competitive. Often, it starts by playing better in your own end which is an area that you can control. Even if you don’t have the finish to bury some goals, you can always find a way to play a good defensive game. Unfortunately for the Mighty Pooches, nothing worked at all on this night, not even to say that they got at least one by M.Stoico.

Degenerates take advantage of RCGT Knights feeble defense

By the time the first period ended, the game showed how the Degenerates were able to exploit an inadequate defense.  You cant afford to give up five goals in a single frame. The RCGT Knights have a nice pool of young and experienced players, but they didn’t approach this mini series with the Degenerates the right way. Its not like the Degenerates are a faster team. In hockey, players understand that the ball moves faster than the player. If this simple concept is understood fully, than the RCGT Knights would have done better with their coverage.  Instead, they left the lanes wide open which created plenty of odd man chances that resulted in goals. J.Melo used his patented wrist shot to bury a pair while S.Marricco wasn’t going to be denied as the power forward collected five goals in two games. A.Lamont also had a productive night collecting five points. Out of the twenty seven shots he received, C.Stavriadis allowed just a goal in each game to earn a pair of wins between the pipes.

Assadi Consulting inc slow starts dooms them in the end

To win hockey games, you need to play at your best throughout the entire time, especially going up against the Classics. The Assadi Consulting inc only turned on their engines when it was a little too late. The Classics used two very good starts that led to a pair of fairly close victories. It goes without saying that you need to be aware every time C.Gingras and P.Karvourirais are on the court. Despite knowing this, it still didn’t matter. The two were at it again complementing each other shift after shift making it very difficult for any defense to contain. While they were able to provide a strong start, the Classics have other players in their bag of tricks that can hurt you as well. C.Kakivelis was a prime example in the first game as the skilled forward notched his clubs last two goals that included the winner. As for the second encounter, A.Kakivelis did the same right after P.Karvouriaris riffled a hat trick. With the season winding down to its final games, every point will count for the Assadi Consulting in , who still have some games left over to try and get it right.

C.Moses shootout winner earns Kings spilt with Dragons

The second game looked like the Kings had it in regulation time. Up 2-1 with the clock bleeding out, the Kings had the chance to bury it in an empty net only to see the Dragons respond late to force a shootout. At least there was some saving grace when C.Moses notched their only shootout goal for the Kings. The previous encounter had a very similar outcome, but with the Dragons getting the slight edge. The contest was just as close with it deadlocked at three goals apiece. It almost was headed for a shootout as well until P.Rivera avoided it with just over two minutes remaining. The Dragons scored four goals in that game in large part due to A.Mirolla’s presence. The forward was again a main factor participating in all four goals while adding a pair of assists in the second match where they dropped it by a 3-2 margin. P.Musto was also heavily involved accumulating four points. The Kings got their points production-from their usual suspect D.Lombardi, who decided to be generous by setting up five goals. These came as good results for the two sides as they are fighting for a playoff spot in a very tight race.

C-A Bessette late goal rescues Country Club for a split with Snipers

Twenty three second was all that was needed to kill off if the Snipers were to bank six clean point to the standings. They took the opening game by a slight 3-2 margin, and appeared to be headed for a second straight win only to see it end in a shootout loss by giving up a very late tally. The Country Club hadn’t scored up until that point. That’s when C-A Bessette tallied late to force a shootout. Still, the Snipers had a chance to win, but their three attempts failed to get through M.Dupuis. In their third and final attempt to try and break the tie, M-A Savaria was able to put the Country Club on top with a hard precise wrist shot that just beat M-St-Laurent. For implications involving the general standings, any result wouldn’t affect the Country Club to much as they’ll likely remain in fourth place. However, the Snipers would have preferred the extra two points that they dropped if their goal is to take top spot. Regardless where anyone finishes, the playoffs is where the real season begins, and the two sides wont be overly concerned on how the standings look like.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Anthony Mirolla of the Dragons. On every single play that resulted in a goal, A.Mirolla was behind it collecting a total of six points.
