Deserving Country Club eliminate RCGT Knights

While the Country Club came ready to play, the same couldn’t be said for the RCGT Knights, who looked flat throughout most of game one. After jump starting the series on three first period goals, the Country Club would lock down defensively, and close out their opener in preparation for another important game. F.Proulx had a great outing collecting three points including the first tally that held for the winner. Goaltending also played into it with M.Dupuis keeping a clean sheet to earn well deserved shutout. If the RCGT Knights planned on extending this series, going scoreless just isn’t going to cut it. Game two did have a different tale to it with A.Lacroix and F.Vitoratos finally getting to the Country Clubs goaltender. Still, they trailed 3-2 after one, and  needed a stronger push in order to force a third and deciding game. Unfortunately, things only went downhill -from there on for the RCGT Knights. The Country Club made some brilliant plays resulting in some pretty goals without any response. M-A Savaria scored twice during the final stretch, and M.Dupuis stood tall once more sending his club through to the semi final round.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Mathieu Dupuis of the Country Club. Goaltending was at its finest with M.Dupuis making the key saves at the right time to help enable his club through to the next round.

With this win, the Country Club will now move on to the semi final round. The match ups are as follows:

(1)Degenerates vs Country Club(4) The Country Club will now face a different beast. The Degenerates wont give up room to do much which will force the Country Club to make the best of their chances. While scoring will be important, so is keeping the ball out of the net. That’s where M.Dupuis will need to be big for the Country Club if they plan on moving on. As for the Degenerates, C.Stavriadis will need to be his usual self and play a firm game between the pipes. This series  has the potential to go into a game three mini game.

(2)ETNA vs Snipers(3) ETNA may have enough hockey sense and skill to do damage, but can it be enough against a side that will run you down. The Snipers own that strength of applying a constant fore check while rolling a bunch of players. Unless ETNA is able to play with a lead, this series may go the Snipers way. Time will tell as this also has the making of a three game series.

Division 1 (Regular season)

Kings fall flat early twice in must win game or games

Whatever thread the Kings playoff hopes were hanging on by, the Dragons took a pair of scissors to it on Monday night. At worst case, they could have afforded to lose one of their two games. That being said, the Kings didn’t help their cause either in the ensuing match finding themselves in a deep hole with four minutes left in the game. Down 4-1, while needing a regulation win is beyond a tall order. However, and to their credit, the Kings never threw the towel responding on a desperate effort scoring three straight times to even the score. Still, a tie wasn’t going to cut it, and even a shootout win since it gave them only two points instead of three. Things could have perhaps played out differently if it weren’t for a pair of bad starts. The Dragons came ready in both games owning the first two periods. M.Dettorre was the catalyst behind the Dragons first win riding a hat trick while J.Mandracchia was a big part for winning the second encounter on three points. Urgency came into play a little to late for the Kings, who weren’t able to apply it early enough in order to give themselves a chance.

Assadi Consulting inc and Brodie Boys cap off regular season in meaningless game

With the Kings falling short in the earlier contest for that last playoff spot, the Assadi Consulting inc took on the Brodie Boys in what was ultimately a meaningless game. The Brodie Boys didn’t change anything in their approach despite knowing that they’ll be taking on the Dragons in the semi finals. Loaded with plenty of depth, many players took turns scoring with T.Ferreira leading the way on two markers. The game ended due to the seven goal mercy rule just passed the mid way point of the second period. Even though it didn’t mean much, the Assadi Consulting inc wanted nothing less than to repeat another embarrassing loss. Entering their last regular season game after a thumping, the Assadi Consulting inc played with a lot more purpose. This time, they made it a point to tighten their game while remaining patient versus a side that doesn’t stop moving. On two occasions, they managed to even the score on goals by J.Courteau. Since regulation time solved nothing a shootout was left to see who would come out on top. After sending three of their skilled players, neither side was still able to get it done. T.Ferreira salvaged the tie by netting the Brodie Boys last shootout marker right after S.Athanasopoulos put the Assadi Consulting inc in front.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Angelo Ekonomakis of the Brodie Boys. In four straight periods, the goaltender was sharp and collective earning a shutout while allowing only a couple of goals.

Division 1 regular season ended tonight, and the top four teams will meet up in next weeks semi final round. The match ups are as follows:

(1)Classics vs Assadi Consulting inc(4) If the Assadi Consulting inc have some sort of magic potion to slow down C.Gingras and P.Karvouriaris, than you never know what can happen. Chances are they don’t have that secret recipe like its been the case for all teams this season going up against the dynamic duo. P.Assadi will need to stand on his head while the offense needs to be opportunistic. Expect the Classics to move on.

(2)Brodie Boys vs Dragons(3) It all depends on if the Dragons have all of their main guns. With a complete line up, they’ll have a chance to defeat the Brodie Boys. However, its important that the Dragons try to take the opening game as much as possible since they are an older team and will struggle to keep up as the games go on. The Brodie Boys are relentless with full of talent. They have all the elements to go far, but will have a difficult challenge going up against some high end experienced talent. Look for this series to go far as long as both sides have their complete line up.
