M.Mavroudis hat trick powers Punishers over Altius
(3)Altius vs Punishers(7)
Defending champion Punishers continued-from where they left of as M.Mavroudis showed his enduring scoring quality by leading his side to a 7-3 victory. Up until the early stages of the third period, the Altius kept pace with the Punishers before their defending proved costly allowing four tallies in that single frame alone. There consolation was perhaps that J.P Blais scored all three times in the loss. You always want to try and get that better start when going up against the Punishers. The Altius didn’t have that luxury, but kept it close for a very long duration until it finally caught up to them. M.Caron’s early third period goal stood up for the winner, and B.Makris was solid throughout most of the match denying everyone except for J.P Blais.
Late second period sinks Azzuri in blowout loss to Legacy
(1)Azzuri vs Legacy(8)
Three minutes may not sound like a long time, but as the Azzuri found out the hard way on Wednesday night, it can make a world of difference in hockey. Legacy did have command of the situation carrying a 2-0 lead before exploding with three goals by the end of the second period to put this contest out of reach. P.Musto and J.Mandracchia had each scored twice before Payam Assadi got involved in the action as well netting his clubs fifth goal of the game. Its not the easiest thing going up against a team that been playing together for about two decades. Although the Azzuri have the experience as well, there is a difference if you don’t know each others tendencies. By adding some more key pieces as the season evolves with strong leadership by R.Varr, the Azzuri will only get better with time. Tonight’s end result didn’t come as a shock with Legacy flooring a nice looking line up with many game breakers. J.Mandracchia went on to complete his hat trick, Payam Assadi added his second while P.Musto finished with four points. The Azzuri got their lone tally by P.Karigiannis as the only player to solve A.Ekonomakis.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Manny Mavroudis of the Punishers. His first two of three goals helped set the tone for the defending champs as the power forward couldn’t have asked for a better start accumulating five points.
