(0)Shockers vs Butchers(2)
Depth comes through, Butchers gelling at right time
For a rare time this season, the Butchers were fully loaded in their close 2-0 win over the Shockers. It took a while for the first goal of the game but Y.Gazura was able to get his team on board as of the early stages of the third period. From-there, the Butchers knew they were in control, especially the way G.Zapatelli was playing. The net minder was on a mission to keep a high powered offense dry and did a spectacular job earning a 28 save shutout. C.Fragkiudakis notched an insurance marker only minutes after his club cracked the ice. This type of win shows how anything will be possible moving forward for the Butchers, who could potentially do damage if all their players show up.
(10)Team Cuba vs Lumberjacks(6)
N.Mackeen and D.Ruiz swap roles in meaningless game
The Lumberjacks experiment nearly worked in a game that didn’t have much on the line. D.Ruiz, who plays as a forward took a different role by putting on a pair of goalie pads in exchange with N.Mackeen who played up front instead. And considering the change of roles, both players did exceptionally well considering having only one change up. N.Mackeen scored twice while D.Ruiz made some good saves to keep the game very close for most of the night. Team Cuba only pulled away as of the mid way point of the third period. F.Bchara had a productive performance riffling four goals while S.Robineault was next in line bagging a hat trick .As for the Lumberjacks, it came to no one’s surprise that C.Gingras was involved in all six tallies.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Gianluca Zapatelli of the Butchers. His 28 save shutout was the major reason why the Butchers got the better of the Shockers on this night.
