(5)Legends vs Smooth Sailors (7) S.O
Smooth Sailors make up for blown lead with shootout win over Legends
Despite overcoming a 5-3 third period deficit, the Legends fell short in the shootout. That area of the game belonged to the Smooth Sailors where they capitalised twice thanks to C.Fragkiudakis and J.Mandracchia. The game had a strong pace with both sides trading two goals each. The second period did belong to the Smooth Sailors and in large part to J.Mandracchia's dominance. By the time the frame ended, Mandracchia had already scored twice while setting up two goals. But that didn't stop the Legends-from battling back. A.Jalilvand sparked an early third period marker, and J.DeSua somehow found a way to sneak the equaliser late in the game. Neither side had luck in the five minute overtime which left only a three man shootout to decide it.
(9)Underdogs vs United Arms Jr(1)
Underdogs overwhelm United Arms Jr in first period onslaught
The tone was set as soon as the ball was dropped for the Underdogs. By the time the first period ended, so did the hope of any miraculous comeback for the United Arms Jr. The Underdogs were simply relentless which has defined a big part of their game this season. Adding to all that energy comes plenty of talent as well. M.El-Kassar helped set up four goals while J.Hassan and E.Salhany each scored twice. The United Arms Jr got their lone tally by A.Atamian as the only player to solve C.Malkoun. For how well the Underdogs have been playing most of the season, there good habits will cause plenty of fits regardless who their opponents are.
(6)Job on Demand vs SBS Tarshers(0)
Job on Demand end SBS Trashers 8 game winning streak
The SBS Trashers came up short in their quest to a perfect season on Thursday night. It just went to show how much the Job on Demand wanted to prove to themselves that they could have ended it. And what makes this remarkable, was that it wasn't even close. Plenty had to do with Pedram Assadi's brilliant goaltending. The net minder was clearly determined on this night stopping all 26 shots his way. As for the goal scoring department, S.Robineault did something he's done plenty of times before and that is to score four goals in one single game. Despite the let down, the SBS Trashers will take this as a blessing in disguise moving forward. A good loss prior to the playoffs can always put matters into perspective.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Pedram Assadi of the Job on Demand. If he continues to play this way heading into the playoffs, opponents will have bigger issues rather than worrying about the Job on Demands offense.
