(3)Black Knights vs GK(5) S.O
GK Grind it out and get rewarded with shootout win
Despite falling behind 2-0, the GK were not ready to call it a night. It's never ideal trailing, but if there is one team that can overcome the odds, the GK makes the top of the list. It took up until the nine minute mark of the second period before they finally cracked the barrier and got on board thanks to G.Bouchard. Clearly, that goal triggered H.Nguyen to follow suit, and all of a sudden a two goal deficit turned into a coin toss situation heading into the final period. The go ahead marker did belong to K.Kuczmarski of the GK, who thought they had it wrapped up with just over four minutes remaining. Only a minute and change had passed before S.Provencal responded with the equaliser. By then, both sides made sure to tighten the noose afraid to make any sort of mistakes. With overtime solving nothing, a shootout was left to determine a potential winner. This is one area that you don't want to face the GK. It seems like every time K.Kuczmarski gets called up to take a shootout, a sure goal is in the making. The highly skilled forward once again did not disappoint by faking out C.Confuorti on his patented back hand move. Then, just to re assure the win, Y.Labonte couldn't have been a better pick to complete the shootout. M.Dauphinais was also stellar denying two attempts.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Mattew Dauphinais of the GK. After giving up two first period goals, the net minder shook it off and responded in a big way enabling his team to bounce back and earn a shootout win.
