Y.Gazura and M.D'Alpe shine in final frames for Venom

Venom saved their best moments in the last periods of both games versus the 1 Timer. In each case, the score was tied 1-1 after one frame. But with the amount of pressure put forth, it was only a question of time before Venom would gain control. Y.Gazura led the way in the opening match striking twice while M.D'Alpe followed up with a similar performance in the second game. The 1 Timer had one good thing going for them and that was their goaltending. F.Koch was a major reason why he kept both games extremely close. With that kind of goaltending, the 1 Timer know that they have a chance to win on any given night.

50 in 07 unaware of Dragons dynamic duo

Unless teams know the tendencies of some particular players, then they'll be fine formulating a specific game plan. Unfortunately for the 50 in 07, names like E.Girouard and S.Robineault are still foreign to them and were only able to realise their threats when it was said and done. Nobody will be shock knowing that both players combined for a total of eight goals and fourteen points. This type of performance is very typical of the two players, who have been doing it regularly over and over. The Dragons have something nice going with a solid supporting cast that can contribute as well. For three straight periods, the 50 in 07 struggled to find the back of the net but that eventually changed when S.Mcallister and D.Meffe finally got to S.Fraga.

Punishers tighten up in second match to split with Les Unknown

After dropping the first game, the Punishers looked to bounce back and even the score with Les Unknown. One area that needed to be addressed was their defensive game. The Punishers made it a point to tighten up and avoid giving the ball away to easily. However, things weren't decided until the mid way point of the second period where A.Kobayati came through for the Punishers. Despite enough time left over, N.Mackeen wasn't planning to let this one slip away. The Goaltender had a monster performance stopping all 20 shots his way. Les Unknown came off a pair of losses only a week ago in large part due to lack of players. Tonight, they fixed the issue and it paid dividends as they were able to take one game away-from a highly skilled Punishers team.

Degenerates stuck searching for their identity

Coach S.Sicuso will have a lot of work ahead of him this season. Admitting that there is work to be done is a good step in the right direction. The Degenerates changed up their roster by adding some youth which will hopefully blend right in sooner than later. For now, they'll be stuck going through the heartaches like in tonight's case where they dropped both games to the Excalibur. With the scoring touch of five different players, the Excalibur took the first encounter rather easily. The same however couldn't be said for the ensuing match. Even though the Excalibur pulled it off, the Degenerates may have had only themselves to blame. The score was deadlocked 1-1 and headed into its final minutes when things turned for the worse for the Degenerates allowing two quick shorthanded goals. M.Bchouti snapped the tie with a man short, and G.Zimbardo followed up only seconds later for a second shorthanded tally to cap off the win.

Experience helps Fatal Demons defeat Golden Boys

The Fatal Demons know what it takes to win hockey games, but the same group also understands the feeling of coming up short. That is why they won't take anyone for granted, even if it's against a younger squad like the Golden Boys. Despite giving up an early goal-from last week's player of the night K.Lisio, the Fatal Demons weren't affected whatsoever and were able to respond in a massive way. D.Galloro opened and closed the scoring to help lead his club to a convincing 6-1 victory. The Golden Boys weren't pleased on how things ended and made the adjustments to put up a better challenge in the second encounter. And even though they fell short, the game could have gone either way. The difference occurred by the mid way point of the second period where L.Bavellas capitalised on the power play for a 2-1 lead that held up.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Simon Robineault of the Dragons. As long as he's set up for a one timer, S.Robinuealt will almost never miss. The sharp shooter had another productive night collecting back to back shutouts as part of an eight point performance.
