Venom get a boost-from their active d-man F.Labrecque

Venom's hot streak continued on Monday night, and in large part due to their active defenseman in F.Labrecque. He doesn't always just make the first play, he makes the first play if it's a smart play. If not, he holds onto the ball and other guys are going to get open. In both wins versus Les Unknown, F.Labrecque had a major influence. He collected three points in the first encounter while doing the same in the ensuing match providing three straight vital points to guarantee the win. Venom did have their hands full on this night against a very resilient opponent. Les Unknown played them extremely hard with M.Morin and B.Cabral leading the charge as both players participated in all four goals.

J.Fisch hands of magic gets the better of the Degenerates

The 50 in 07 won only their second game of the season with a combination of skill and hustle. J.Fisch was the magician posting up a pair of beautiful goals while the rest of his teammates provided the effort. After taking the first match by a slight 3-2 margin, the 50 in 07 found themselves in a huge bind by the five minute mark of the second period where they trailed 4-1. But with still enough time left over, a miracle finish was in the making. The Degenerates had all but one minute carrying a two goal lead along with an empty net to feed to return the favour and split the mini series. Instead, they let it slip away. S.Petreccia scored to pull his team within one, and with only four seconds remaining, M.Sanchez celebrated a huge goal to force the match into a shootout. Even though it came as a difficult ending, the Degenerates did salvage some grace in the end by taking the shootout. J-P Bertrand was the only player to score on a crafty back hand move.

Scoring by committee leads 1 Timer to a pair of wins over Fatal Demons

Surely, the 1 Timer were extremely pleased with their overall effort after it was said and done versus the Fatal Demons. The players liked the way many of their goals were engineered, digging for loose balls, winning corner battles, the fluid defence jumping in and everyone hungry for rebounds. T.Daigneault opened and closed the scoring while C.Gagnon-Ethier provided three straight points en route to a 5-0 win. In addition to the victory, F.Koch was without a doubt in his comfort zone denying all 14 shots he faced. The Fatal Demons, despite displaying one of their worse efforts, still had a chance to salvage their night. And even though the effort was drastically improved, the end result was still the same. The 1 Timer used a good first period that eventually proved to make the difference. P-A Surprenant came through just at the right time snapping a late 3-3 tie.

Short bench catches up to Punishers

Playing with only five players is just a recipe for disaster. But to the Punishers credit, they did what they needed to do. By the time the 6:31 minute mark hit, the Punishers stormed to a 3-0 lead which enabled them to play to their liking. That cushion was just what the doctor ordered. It was now up to the Golden Boys in order to get their act together and battle back. The problem was that they had to go up against a team that decided to put it in shutdown mode. The Punishers had the luxury of just playing back while relying on N.Mackeen to make the basis saves. The second game had a similar start with the Punishers taking charge building a 3-1 lead after one period. Unfortunately, they eventually ran out of steam, and the Golden Boys kept taking advantage of the situation. S.Rigas was the catalyst behind the comeback as the skilled forward provided three out of his clubs four goals to record a hat trick. Considering the circumstances, the Punishers were pleased taking four out of a possible six points. S.Rigas had a monster night notching his clubs lone shootout marker as did K.Tsoukalas for the Punishers.
