(0)Smooth Sailors vs SBS Trashers(7)
SBS Trashers gelling at just the right time
The SBS Trashers appear to finally hit their stride. They've just won a convincing 7-0 game and it couldn't come at a better time. Shutting out the Smooth Sailors usually never happens, but that can be expected when a team buys into a system along with brilliant goaltending. R.Pampena looked strong and confident like his usual self on most nights making one save look nicer than the other. When a team knows that they can rely on their goaltender, the offense will often fall into play. The SBS Trashers had no issues finding the back of the net seven straight times. M.Sartore and E.Panzera potted a pair while Joseph Scalia played an unfamiliar role by setting up five goals.
(11)Legacy vs United Armenians (2)
Legacy blow out Arms in expected result
The United Armenians had no choice but to hope for a miracle in order to have any sort of chance with only three spares to their bench. In many cases, a depleted line up can lead into something positive, but not when you go up against Legacy. This was clear-from the get go where T.Bozinakis used two markers to close out the frame for a 3-1 lead. It took only a minute and change for Bozinakis to complete his hat trick into the ensuing period. The current just increased as of the second period with the United Armenians unable to keep up. Six goals had gone in during that span. S.Robineault closed out the scoring to match T.Bozinakis for a shared hat trick.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Remo Pampena of the SBS Trashers. Pampena was superb, turning in a shiny sparkling performance shutting out a high octane offense in the Smooth Sailors.
The D Thursday regular season came to an end. With top three seeds securing a semi final spot, the fourth place SBS Trashers will need to take on the fifth place United Armenians in order to reach the semi final round. Anything can happen in a one game playoff. If both teams come prepared, expect a close match. The United Armenians will need all their assets up front as a bare minimum to go up against a stingy defence and solid goaltender in R.Pampena.
