(3)The Blast vs Bramabulls(1)
Blast hand Bulls first defeat in penalty parade game
The misbehavin Bramabulls saw their perfect streak come to an end on Thursday night. The Blast played with an edge and brought a lot to the table in game that they really wanted to win. The contest was heated for most of the night as both sides appeared to be more physical and intense than usual. Three out of the four goals came on the special teams. C.Paris and Rubens Morne scored with the man advantage for the Blast while J.Mandracchia was patient enough to wait out D.Massa on a crafty finish for a shorthanded marker. It's not often the Blast show up full squad, but tonight they did and showed how effective they are no matter who they play. Rubens Morne added a late tally for his second after receiving a feed-from D.Provost-Jarry, who collected a pair of assists.
(9)Winter Soldiers vs Legacy(5)
Rare double hat tricks pace Winter Soldiers
A.Kakivelis and C.Kakivelis each scored hat tricks on Thursday night as the Winter Soldiers pounded Legacy 9-5. The game appeared to be headed for a blowout with the Winter Soldiers roaring to a 5-0 lead. Then, in the span of only four and half minutes, the alarm bells started to sound off for the Winter Soldiers. A.Stamiris set up four goals with primary assists that saw S.Athanasopoulos benefit twice. Legacy hoped to carry their momentum into the third period, but was short lived as the Winter Soldiers regained their footing on three quick goals. Playing with only two changes clearly didn't help Legacy against a deeper and fired up squad.
(3)Toyota Candiac vs SBS Trashers(2)
Toyota Candiac keep playoff hope alive against struggling Trashers
There is still some life left in the Toyota Candiac season, after all. With both teams trying to earn a playoff spot, it was the Toyota Candiac that emerged with a pivotal win. The SBS Trashers showed more urgency early on taking the first period 2-1. Eventually though, the Toyota Candiac would get the break they needed when P.Lapointe scored late in the second period to even the score. It was only fitting that the two sides had all but a period to play their most important hockey so far. That being said, something would have to give, and when considering the circumstances, the next goal would have likely decided matters. K.Tsoukalas was the one to earn the spotlight as the veteran came through with less than five minutes remaining. That lead proved to be more than enough in a period that was treated like a do or die battle. Still, nothing is yet decided, but this win definitely puts the Toyota Candiac in the driver's seat with only two games remaining.
(2)Fitforce Phoenix vs Legends (12)
Legends go on scoring spree to defeat Fitforce Phoenix
Just about everything went right for the Legends in this lopsided affair. From-the drop of the ball, they were ready to go and immediately put the Fitforce Phoenix on its heels. The score was already 5-0 after only one period for the Legends which clearly deflated their opponent. It wasn't like they dominated in possession but they made sure to generate enough quality when having the ball. Leading the charge up front was M.Destounis, who likes to pride himself as passer but decided to change it up by riffling five goals. E.Mavroudis was expected to get at least three tallies out of the twelve that went in, and K.Kavan along with A.Zarzour racked up combining for eleven points.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Pedram Assadi of the Toyota Candiac. After a sluggish start to the night, P.Assadi responded with a flawless performance in net that earned him and his club a much needed win.
