Chiefs overcome slow start in important win versus Brewers

The first ten minute Chiefs looked like a team that had nothing to play for as the Brewers stormed out of the gate bagging three straight goals. Despite their slow start however, sometimes  a team just needs a kick start to get things going. Once D.Bellito struck to get the Chiefs on board, the snow ball effect was in motion. The Chiefs couldn’t have played a better second period than the way they did on this night. They notched five unanswered goals with scoring efforts coming from different players, and looked like a team that couldn’t be stopped for how well they moved the ball. This result came as a good character victory for a team still in search of their first win of the season, and what better way than to do it by overcoming a 3-0 deficit. A.Zarzour was simply masterful collecting six points that included a hat trick.

National get the ball rolling early, netting 4 in the first period alone

National wasted no time taking a hefty lead in Friday nights contest against the Devil Dawgz, potting four goals in the first period alone. But they didn’t stop there adding two more by the second before running away with it in the third. It was their captain that got things started. After setting up O.Meilleur only three minutes in, M.Pinheiro buried two in a row extending the lead by three in no time. The Devil Dawgz couldn’t have asked for a worse case scenario. With only three changes to their bench, the game plan was thrown out the window as they were stuck playing from a deep deficit rather than keeping it close for as long as possible.

Family, not making it easy for anyone they meet

The belief here is that the HBHA Seniors are better than pretty much most teams of the two divisions. But judging from tonight’s match up between the Family and the HBHA Seniors, the gap between these two teams was miniscule. It was definitely another solid effort from the Family. After finding themselves down 2-0 heading into the third period, M.Braun and L.Cannistrano capitalised in less than two minutes to draw even. However, the HBHA Seniors were able to respond only minutes later when M.Destounis snapped the tie. P.Doulis would add an insurance marker and the HBHA Seniors needed a full 45 minute effort in order to defeat a team they thought would have been easy.

Third period power play goals propel Pylons past Bramabulls

Sometimes you just need to click on your special teams in order o get things done. The Pylons did just that in the third period where they notched two power play goals after the two sides played to a deadlock tie. Naturally ,T.Settino would have his hand in it, snapping the 2-2 tie early in the frame. It took only a minute and change from that point on for Settino to complete his hat trick. The Bramabulls fell behind twice but managed to respond both times before hitting penalty problems. S.Ruggiero must have taken nearly 30 shot attempts throughout the entire contest for the Bramabulls that had one find its way past O.Caillet. If not for the Pylons goaltending, this game would have belonged to the Bramabulls. O.Caillet was sharp and busy making plenty of saves to keep the game close.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Olivier Caillet of the Pylons. Clearly, the net minder was a big reason why the Pylons edged out the Bramabulls. Caillet was very busy but barley flinched enabling the Pylons to play with the lead for most of the night.
