Horsemen edge Assadi Consulting Inc. in shootout after goalie battle

Locked in what was a very close battle, the Horseman and the Assadi consulting Inc saw both their games come down to the wire. The two evenly matched teams felt there wasn’t much room out there with nobody in particular really taking over the match except for the goaltenders. Only one goal was conceded-from the two net minders in the opening match, with C.Stavriadis edging out his counter part P.Assadi in the shootout making that one extra save. The win was decided thanks to S.DosSantos’s lone shootout marker. The second game had a different story line as both sides found their offensive stride only to be decided in a dreaded shootout once again. However, the Horsemen will look at it differently as they dictated a strong first period and an early second period where they surged on three straight goals. It appeared that they had everything under control until a late desperate attempt-from the Assadi Consulting Inc suggested otherwise. After pulling themselves within one, and by pulling out their goaltender for the extra attacker, K.Tsoukalas completed a three goal comeback with less than a minute remaining. Again, both sides went into familiar territory sending three players aside to try and get an edge. Unfortunately, none of the combined six players were able to solve the net minders. T.Karasek made an immediate impact for the Horsemen collecting four points in which three came on the power play.

Horsemen storm back after dropping opener in shootout to Family

Resilience has been one of the Horsemen’s  trademarks this season, and it was on display again on a double header night with the Family. Although they didn’t get the result they wanted in the first game losing in a shootout, the second match was where they proved that they’ll never go down without a battle. It didn’t even matter that they played there eight period in only three hours. Somehow, they had the energy to generate six goals with four coming in the final period alone. M.Kardum set up two tallies before capping it off on two straight markers. The Family had the opportunity to bank three clean points in the opening contest if not for D.Greco capitalising late on the power play. Despite the late meltdown, M.Laroche did have the final say for the Family as the only player to score in the shootouts.

Knights struggles continue dropping a pair to the Family

S.Sauk has to believe that adversity can be a good thing. His team is dealing with plenty of it at the moment. The Knights has sprung a massive leak defensively surrendering way too many goals to the Family on Thursday night. They have time to get things right before the games really start to count but there will less and less room for error if things continue this way. On the flip side, the Family seem to be heading into a different direction. After blanking there opponent in the opening match, the Family took off crushing the Knights for a second straight game. They managed to score an impressive eleven goals that saw M-A Daaha, M.Brown, B.Sansotta and M.Ciminelli each score twice.

Fatal Demons fired up in second encounter after narrow loss to Brewers

The Fatal Demons got back playing to their strengths after dropping a close encounter with the Brewers. They limited their turnovers and rediscovered their scoring touch pouncing on the Brewers with six first period goals. S.Marricco had two goals and two assists during that time, and E.Chidak was sound in net enabling the Fatal Demons to play confidently in front of him. For how bad things ended for the Brewers, they’ll be glad that they took three points in the earlier victory. T.Fernando was vital for the result posting back to back tallies in a very short span that included the winner. Despite the loss in the ensuing match, A.Papazian and A.Lanni clicked well all game long as the two players combined for five points.

Buckshots edge out Assadi Consulting Inc after back and forth action

Though tempted throughout a back and forth affair on Thursday night, the Buckshots refused to let their head to head with the Assadi Consulting Inc slip out of their grasp taking four out of a possible six points in the standings. Both teams had their stretches causing plenty of fits for either defences and especially the goaltenders. The Buckshots got two very good starts in both games which led to a victory in the opening match and a draw in the second game where they surrendered a pair of late goals. Leading the charge up front in the first game saw Y.Derohannessian bury three goals while M.Destounis chipped in with a pair. Destounis wasn’t done there as the skilled forward struck three more times while adding an assist in the 4-4 draw. Looking back, the Buckshots felt they deserved better after being disallowed  a highlight reel goal-from Derohannessian, and the fact that they gave up their lead with only 7 seconds remaining in the game.
