M.Thakaa’s late marker settles the score for the Ice Breakers

The Ice Breakers needed M.Thaka’s goal with two minutes remaining in the second game to level the mini series with the Excalibur. After dropping their earlier game, the Ice Breakers found their scoring touch winning a wild second period that barley edged out their opponent. Four different players chipped in with goals while S.Ruggiero scored twice in the loss as part of a three goal night. S.Sauk faced 13 shots in the opening contest allowing only A.Tachejian to get the better of him. Throughout the first three periods, the Excalibur played sound defensively conceding only two tallies. It was by the final frame where they side tracked from their game plan enabling the Ice Breakers to break through and erupt with three goals.

Orient surge with authority after dropping first game versus Yables

Clearly ,the Orient were dialled up after a disappointing loss to Les Yables. Actually, so dialled up that Les Yables had no clue what hit them. The Orient responded in a massive way  netting five first period markers to take immediate control of the match. It showed from the start that they meant business. M.Morin hit it off early while setting up two goals, and A.Farha was the mastermind behind setting up three tallies that saw F.Nasser benefit twice. The first encounter had a different story line with Les Yables limiting the Orient’s scoring chances. J-F Simard stopped 17 of 18 shots and D.Marcotte snapped a 1-1 second period tie on a tally that held up for the winner.

Classics shake off some rust heading into second encounter

The Classics timing was off on Monday night, at least in the first period where they looked sluggish falling behind by two goals. However, credit must be given to Les Immigrant, and especially C.Khesiafy who notched both tallies with feeds coming from A.Addante. Although the Classics fought back to cut the lead in half, it just wasn’t enough as they kept hitting a wall in M.Chamoun. The second contest saw a very different Classics team in their approach. By shaking off their rust, the Classics had new life and it showed right away when M.Destounis struck only a minute into the game. The expectations from the Classis were nothing less than a positive result. After grabbing a 3-2 lead heading into the final stretch, A.Zarzour still had plenty in the tank posting his second goal and third point of the match. Then, just to put the cherry on top, P.Gervasi made a brilliant move to flip the ball over the defensemen’s stick before finishing it off on a wicked wrist shot. That was the veteran defensemen’s third point as well.

1 Timer, content with split versus LG HC

The 1 Timer did exactly what they set out to do by splitting their night with the LG HC. M.Carpentier set the tone with two first period goals, and P-A Surprenant had a dominant second frame striking once while setting up T.Daigneault for the winner. Naturally, the 1 Timer had it in mind to duplicate their efforts in the ensuing match. However, a team like the LG HC will often regroup and adjust when things don’t go there way. Proof of that came as early as the first seven minute where they stormed out with three straight markers. Leading the charge was J.Rochon, who netted back to back tallies and E.Girouard, who helped set up all three goals. The 1 Timer knew it was going to be tough but still managed to put up a good challenge. Both their tallies came on the special teams with T.Daigneault scoring shorthanded and K.Boucher riffling a power play goal.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Christopher Khesiafy of the Immigrant. Out of his clubs five goals, Khesiafy bagged four of them, and was an instrumental piece to the puzzle why Les Immigrant were able to take down the Classics in one of their two games.
