SBS Trashers thump Werewolves to move into first place

A clinical performance helped the SBS Trashers hit top shelf of the E Thursday division standings. M.Siconolfi and J.Guerriero each scored twice and R.Pampena stopped 24 shots for a shutout. Blanking a team like the Werewolves isn't common but by playing a tight defensive game, the SBS Trashers are playing playoff style hockey at the right time. Joseph Scalia didn't score but set up three goals that included one by his captain E.Panzera. The Werewolves just came off a massacre where they stormed with thirteen goals against the Mohicans only to hit a dry spell.

Mighty Drunks deserved better

Entering the night, the Mighty Drunks went without their regular net minder forced to put a player that's never played goalie before. And despite his unfamiliar position, J.Morin fared pretty well, at least in the first two periods. The Mighty Drunks battled extremely hard to carry a 4-3 lead after two frames only to see the third period fall apart. But it wasn't by any stretch a lack of effort. The Chiefs simply shot-from anywhere and hoped that the ball would find its way in. On the few shot attempts that they took, four unanswered goals went through a tired J.Morin. K.Araujo led the way with a hat trick while N.Faria buried a pair. It was one of those matches that didn't do justice for the losing side.

(4)Bramabulls vs Mohicans(5)

Mohicans start strong, hang on to 5-4 win

The Mohicans looked to be more determined and better prepared against the Bramabulls on Thursday night. After two periods, the score was 4-1 and the Mohicans played to their full potential against a solid opponent. But the game wasn't over yet. The Bramabulls woke up-from the dead and caused plenty of concern when D.Verta went on a scoring rampage. The slick forward scored two straight goals to cut the lead by one. Unfortunately, C.Muccino wished he had the Mohicans fifth goal back. F.Meunier regained a two goal cushion with a mediocre wrist shot that Muccino should have stopped. From-there, D.Verta added his third goal and fourth point to once again pull within one. However, the Mohicans decided it was enough and held on to the nail biter.

(5)Ottarks vs United Arms(0)

Ottarks depend on quality and not quantity in rout of United Arms

They may have been short, but the Ottarks arguably have the best trio in the E Thursday division. J.Mandracchia, D.Guarnieri and L.Dulcetta will give any opponent headaches and nightmares if they don't adjust accordingly. In tonight's case, all three were involved in every goal combining for five points. C.Cardillo was also into the action collecting three points that included a blistering slap shot-from the point for a power play goal. The United Arms kept it very close for a long stretch struggling to get anything by S.Morante, who denied every shot to earn a shutout.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Frederic Meunier of the Mohicans. In a heated battle with the Bramabulls, F.Meunier struck twice that included the winner in a tight 5-4 decision.

Inconsistency dooms the Chiefs

All though the score indicates a one goal game, the Chiefs didn't feel that this contest was anywhere close to what they were hoping for. They did get the better start and the better finish but the middle was a complete disaster. The Werewolves sparked six straight goals and dictated the pace for a very long stretch. During that time, Y.Leroux banked in a pair of markers collecting three straight points to put his team up 3-2.Despite the horrible sequence, the Chiefs came inches close to tying it up. P.Santullo struck three times in the loss.
