(4)Shockers vs Brew Crew(5) S.O Game 1

Brew Crew rally for improbable 5-4 shootout win

With the clock winding down and the Brew crew close to falling behind in the series, D.Campanella may have saved the night. There was no scripted way to win this hockey game for the Brew Crew. After finding themselves in a grave hole, the veteran side remained focused and took it one shift at a time. S.Lodico helped rally the comeback with a late second period goal. By then, the Brew Crew still trailed by a pair but eventually overcame the hurdle posting two unanswered markers to force a shootout. It seems more often than not, that when a team enters a shootout with plenty of momentum, they tend to close it off. That was the case in this contest as D.Verta was the only player of the two sides to bury his chance. C.Muccino faced three sharp shooters and never flinched to capture a massive win between the pipes.

(9)Brew Crew vs Shockers(7) S.O Game 2

Make it a double, Brew Crew scoring when it counts

For a second straight game, the Brew Crew had their hands working in extra time. As much as it took everyone to get the job done, D.Verta may have been the hero on this night. The crafty forward seems to love the big games and tonight it showed once again. After collecting five total points along with the shootout winner in game one, D.Verta put on a show scoring once again in the breakaways to help send his club through to the final. The Shockers were the ones who tied it late in this contest courtesy of J.Collins, but couldn't get it done in the shootout going 0 for 5 in both games. They did have their big guns produce as T.Salberg and C.Debonis each collected hat tricks. Another vital piece for the result was C.Moutafis. Four out of the seven goals came off his blade while the sixth goal was thanks to his assist on D.Verta's power play marker. The Brew Crew knew that knocking out the current champs wasn't going to be easy, but by applying their style of game and getting the timely plays, they were confident that they would pull through.

(4)Fatal Demons vs Lynx(5) Game 1

Fatal Demons blow 3-0 lead, show little life after first period in 5-4 loss

It was about as perfect a start as the Fatal Demons could have asked for. They came out better prepared, passing well crashing the net at every chance they had. R.Ranieri tallied twice in that frame alone to put his club up 3-0.All of a sudden the Fatal Demons carried a three goal cushion and were in cruise control which in hindsight, was probably that the best strategy. The Lynx at that point wanted nothing more than to get that one goal to crack the ice. And once they did, they knew it was going to be contagious throughout their lineup. A three goal deficit quickly turned into a one goal deficit after two periods with the Fatal Demons barely hanging on. R.Beaver used a late second period goal and an early third period marker to tie the game for the Lynx. Then, less than 45 seconds later, A.Singh gave the Lynx their first lead of the night and the Fatal Demons felt like a balloon bursting into thin air. At that point, there was no way S.Catalano and a committed defensive game would allow any sort of comeback despite the amount of time left over.

(4)Lynx vs Fatal Demons(2) Game 2

Lynx knot series with 4-2 win, punch ticket to final

The way the previous game ended, the Lynx felt confident in their chances to reaching the final. Still, they didn't take the Fatal Demons for granted as they made sure this time to grab the opening goal. After mounting a 2-1 first period lead, J.Mason gave his club plenty to celebrate as the sniper struck with the man advantage. It was now up to the Fatal Demons to do to the Lynx like the Lynx did to them in the previous encounter. Unfortunately, it isn't that type of team you want to fall behind to. The Fatal Demons couldn't have afforded to put themselves behind and knew nothing more how important game one was when looking back. At worse case, they would have taken their chances in a 15 minute mini game to try and knock out a team like the Lynx. Instead, they just fell short and will now be looking-from the side lines. The Lynx had four different players score in this contest that saw Y.Vanasse set up three teammates.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Danny Verta of the Brew Crew. Apart from-his dominant play in both games, D.Verta did something remarkable by bagging two game winning shootout goals.

The E Sunday division is now down to only two teams. The Lynx will take on the Brew Crew in what is expected to be a hard fought battle. This series will come down to the Lynx needing to create space against a sound structured Brew Crew side. The good news is that they have the elements, especially with their active defensemen which will need to come into play. It may be a series that the Brew Crew will need to grab that lead even though they showed that they can come back like they did versus the Shockers.
