Team Purple fight back, but Team Orange prevail in the end

(4)Team Orange vs Team Purple(3)

Team Purple showed a lot of heart in losing Tuesday night. Down by two goals by the 15 minute mark, Team Purple could have given in for how their season is going as of late. That didn’t stop them-from battling back with D.Galloro and G.Charron responding to even the score. Both sides played tentative making sure to avoid as many mistakes as possible. Eventually something was to give. Already with a goal under his belt, D.Lipinski sent another ball toward the net that found its way in. Team Orange went back in front needing to hold on to ten very long minutes. Team Purple had their chance to level when G.Charron took a penalty shot. Unfortunately, B.Verducci was there to deny him at a very pivotal point in the game. Even if they put out an encouraging effort, there was no story book ending for Team Purple. The good news is that they start fresh with next weeks playoffs. If they can take some positives-from tonight’s result, than anything can happen, even a tall order going up against Team Black.

The SalumiVino player of the game goes to David Lipinski of Team Orange. In a relatively low scoring game, the d-man produced two very big goals that included a late winner.

Team Blue go nuclear after falling behind early to Team White

(5)Team White vs Team Blue(9)

Sixteen minutes in, and Team White couldn’t have asked for a better start. A.Daghlian and M.Lang each scored twice, the defense looked sound, and G.Kanaras had the support a goaltender looks for-from his team. Then, it started to look like the wheels fell off an eighteen wheeler truck.  Team Blue must have either spiked their own water or eaten a jar of spinach for how this contest flipped on its head. The next eight of nine goals belonged to only one side with scoring efforts coming-from seven different players. R.DiMarco struck first for Team Blue while setting up three different teammates. E.Colella was the only player to bury a pair.  Team White must have been wondering how they let this slip away unable to slow down the bleeding. Feasting on your opponent the way Team Blue did tonight certainly shows a killer instinct. With the playoffs just around the corner, tonight was a nice way to cap off the regular season for Team Blue.  As for Team White, the message is simple, focus on what’s ahead rather than dwelling what’s in the past.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Robert DiMarco of Team Blue. When a player can control the back end of the court while providing offense, you know that you have a vital piece to the puzzle for a successful outcome. R.DiMarco did more than his share capping off a four point outing for Team Blue.

Team Yellow and Team Black cap off a strong finish to regular season

(6)Team Yellow vs Team Black(7)

Team Yellow took on Team Black in what was a highly anticipated match. Team Black do hold a stronger season record, but Team Yellow have been hot lately riding a three game winning streak. Tonight's contest was a perfect measuring stick heading into next weeks playoffs. It came to no surprise that the teams passed the momentum back and forth. At one point , Team Black did take over on a dominant stretch where they strung a pair of tallies to give themselves a 6-4 lead close to the 40 minute mark. However, Team Yellow managed to keep things extremely close, so close that they nearly tied the game up after pulling out their goaltender for the extra attacker. All that was missing during that final sequence was the equalizer for the ton of pressure Team Yellow was applying. If not for A.Michalidis stealing the show, this contest was headed for a shootout. Instead, the net minder made some incredible timely saves to preserve Team Blacks slight lead. Ultimately, Team Black were able to come out on top as they have done all season long. P.Lopez loves to jump into the play which resulted in Team Blacks last two goals of this contest. As expected, M.Dearing collected at least four points in the win while A.Zakaraian was there to bury a pair for Team Yellow.

The SalumiVino player of the game goes to Alex Michalidis of Team Black. Even if the score suggest for some average goaltending, that couldn't be further-from the truth. Michalidis was stellar making a few jaw dropping saves that enabled his club to keep playing in front en route to a very close 7-6 decision.

Team Green able to finish season on high note

(8)Team Green vs Team Red(6)

It was an encouraging and essential ending to what was an average season so far for Teem Green. They were able to shed an average performance by defeating a second seed club right before the playoffs begin. Sometimes its how you finish that really matters in the end. Team Green had a strong night getting balanced production resulting in eight goals. M.Saia and T.Nardelli each scored twice and J.Prevost accumulated five points that included four helpers. Team Red rely on their defensive game, but that struggled in tonight’s case. You just cant afford to not be prepared for games like this despite it having little impact to the standings. Regardless, its only one encounter and every week is different. Team Red will shrug it off and return to good habits next week when the games start to really matter.

The SalumiVino player of the game goes to Jeremy Prevost of Team Green. The spark plug was a huge help for Team Green scoring his clubs first goal while setting up four others.

The Tuesday night Draft League regular season came to an end. With all eight clubs participating in the playoffs, the match ups are as follows:

(1)Team Black vs Team Purple(8) Its not complicated. Team Purple will have to defend, protect the house, and heavily rely on S.Catalano to perform miracles in net. If they apply that boring formula, you never know since they have the players to counter attack and create some offense.

(2)Team Red vs Team Yellow(7) Here you have two teams that will make it a priority to defend. Whoever can limit their mistakes, will likely advance. Should be a close battle to the finish line.

(3)Team Orange vs Team Green(6) Its playoff season, and P.Santullo will get serious to prepare Team Green in a difficult match up with Team Orange. As long as this contest remains close, Team Green will smell that opportunity to steal it in the end. That being said, Team Orange have a lethal weapon in their bag of tricks. T.Settino will be the reason why his club should advance.

(4)Team Blue vs Team White(5) Difficult one to predict. Team Blue have a solid quarter back in R.DiMarco, who will need to swallow the minutes in order to control the game for Team Blue. Even though Team White have the fire power, they haven’t really been the same as of late. B.Sorice will have to take command for his club and lead the way up front in order to give his team a chance to win.
