Sonic surrender late goal before falling in overtime to Snipers

Sonic were less than a minute away-from taking their season opener versus the Snipers. Despite taking three slight leads, Sonic just couldn’t deliver that final blow that would have kept the Snipers in check. Instead, they managed to tie things up every single time that saw Hussain Awada strike late to force the extra time. The Snipers didn’t stop there however as it showed in the way they kept fore-checking . By applying the pressure they did, Sonic  paid the price once more with D. Mansour closing out the deal with his 2nd goal of the night. No doubt Sonic were disappointed for letting this one slip away. Perhaps some mental mistakes got the better of them. Since its only the first game of the regular season, this loss will quickly be forgotten. M.Pace had a strong start as expected, participating in all five goals for Sonic that included a ha hat trick. The Snipers saw A.Saleh take charge bagging a hat trick as well netting his clubs first three goals.

RCGT Knights stuck enduring a night to forget

A flat start did the RCGT Knights in a night to forget. At no point were they able to find their stride as the bad dream ended in a nightmare loss. It was evident that the whole group didn’t play well at all. You know things go bad when you have a chance to get on board with a power play chance only to concede a shorthanded marker instead. The Van Doos HC simply fed off all the momentum that they created dominating every aspect of the game. N.Chiminian got the ball rolling early posting two quick goals before completing a hat trick later in the second period. N.Tsataronis and H.Patel had a strong season debut sharing two goals each while Cameron was sharp in net turning aside a 27 save shutout. While the Van Doos HC have plenty to feel good about, the RCGT Knights know that they should have done way better than what the score suggests. Its not like they don’t have the quality and experience to battle harder and more efficient for what they showed. Sometimes everything just goes against you which was likely the case in this particular game. S.Sauk needs to shake this one off fast, and focus only on what’s ahead. Maybe tweaking a player here and there to hopefully turn the tides in the right direction.

M.Kardum’s hat trick propels Horsemen to 5-1 win over Flying Squirrels

The Horsemen were inspired to a convincing win on Thursday night thanks to a hat trick by M.Kardum to help kick start the season. The first period didn’t really indicate where this contest was headed. That all changed when the Horsemen strung two consecutive power play goals to jump in front 3-1. From-that point on, it started to show more and more that the Horsemen were able to dictate the pace much better. M.Kardum would widen the margin with his second before capping off a solid night on a hat trick along with an assist. He did get plenty of help by D.Greco, who fed him on all three occasions while netting one himself. The Horsemen did an overall fine job limiting the Flying Squirrels to generate enough high end chances. M.Vinciguerra was strong in net allowing all but one tally in the third period by T.Ricci.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Ahmad Saleh of the Snipers. In what was a wild and crazy finish between the Snipers and Sonic, A.Saleh was a big factor for the win providing three straight goals for his club.
