Resilient Canucks overcome short bench to stun Sharks
( 8 )Sharks vs Canucks(9) O.T
The Sharks, boasting a strong line up and considered the favourites by many didn’t quite have the start they wanted. It was the Canucks sending a stronger message that they meant business. Only three minutes had gone by, and the Canucks stormed out to an early 3-0 lead. Since it was very early in the game, the Sharks weren’t overly concerned that they could bounce back. Slowly but surely, they chipped away at the Canucks lead before eventually pull ahead by a pair. The Canucks immediately responded when Marie Eve split the defense to pull her side within one. The Canucks had a very simply strategy in order to get their scoring done. Since they were heavily undermanned, the game plan was simple, and that was to shoot as often as possible. E.Colella excels in that department as the general rattled off his second in overtime to cause some heavy indigestion for the Sharks. The Canucks, with their limited roster were able to defy the odds by overcoming adversity as the underdogs. M.Porato was part of the driving force bagging a hat trick, M.Lang used his front net presence to collecting four points while M.Petracca was vital as well breaking up many plays .
The Allo Mon Coco Ste Dorothee player of the game goes to Eddy Colella of the Canucks. From -strategic planning, to breaking up plays, to sending crisp passes and finally to using his blistering slap shot, Colella will haunt the Sharks for a while as the seasoned veteran send shockwaves throughout both benches.
The other semi final match up featuring the Ducks an the Penguins will take place on Tuesday March 19.
