Sharpshooters triumph in thrilling shootout, Les Yables strike back in defensive showdown

The games featuring the Sharpshooters and Les Yables were nothing short of a spectacle. Right -from the opening face off, the intensity was palpable as both teams kept going back and forth trading a ton of numerous chances. Although they grabbed the better start up 2-0, Les Yables couldn’t hold their lead entering the final frame tied 3-3. Things didn’t quite slow down-from there either with the Sharpshooters imposing their will on two quick goals by M.Moison for a 6-4 cushion. Rather than calling it quits, Les Yables forced the issue on a late surge that saw N.St-Onge rattle off his fourth goal of the game. In the end, the Sharpshooters took the first encounter on shootout tallies by J.Teresi and M.Kardum. However, the battle was far-from over as the two teams clashed again in a rematch that proved to be a stark contrast to the previous encounter. This time, the goaltenders stole the show with M.Vinciguerra of the Sharpshooters and J-F Simard of Les Yables taking centre stage denying every single shot attempt their way. The two goaltenders were so good throughout both periods that a second shootout was required in order to determine the outcome. Unlike the first game however, Les Yables were able to turn the tables by getting three consecutive shootout goals to even the  mini series with the Sharpshooters.

G.Vermette earns double shutout in master class performance vs the Classics

Despite their best efforts, the Classics were unable to find a way past the brick wall defense put up by the Chiefs. Led by their goaltender and supported by a tenacious defensive unit, G.Vermette stifled every offensive opportunity the Classics attempted to generate. The Chiefs ran away with the first encounter by the second period on three straight goals that had S.Branchaud play a pivotal role participating in all four goals. In the rematch game, the Chiefs and the Classics locked horns again in a battle of defensive titans. Unlike the previous encounter where the Chiefs asserted their dominance, the second match went to the wire, but with the Chiefs carrying a very slight 1-0 lead. For how lights out A.Ekonomakis was playing in net for the Classics, all it took was one single tally in order to bounce back in a game that was up for grabs. Unfortunately, its seemed no matter how hard the Classics tried to get on board, the Chiefs defense held firm, and more importantly G.Vermette was outstanding for a second straight game stopping everything in sight. The match was characterised by tight checking defense, disciplined positioning, and incredible goaltending at both ends of the rink. The lone goal not counting the two empty net markers by S.Vanier came-from M.Provost-Chenier early in the game.

Victory swings as Assadi Consulting inc and DHK settle for a split

In the first encounter, it was the Assadi Consulting inc that came out swinging establishing their offensive prowess for a 2-0 lead. Although N.Francis reduced the gap by one, A.Papazian was riding his hot hand by netting his second shortly after. The Assadi Consulting inc played the remainder of the frame with high caution making sure that the DHK didn’t mount any sort of comeback. Granted, N.Francis did cause some concern when he posted his second, but that goal came a little to late as the Assadi Consulting inc closed it out on two empty net markers that saw A.Papazian complete his hat trick. Perhaps not their best game, the DHK entered the second encounter with a new sense of determination seeking to salvage their night with the Assadi Consulting inc. And in the large part, the assignment was met as they started off strong posting three first period goals to get the bench going. During that stretch, D.Seguin played a major role creating much of the havoc by collecting some big points. After scoring once while setting up his captain N.Francis, the forward bagged a huge second period power play goal that would put the opposition on their heels. There was almost no way that the DHK was going to let a three goal cushion evaporate. By simply playing a smart and patient game while relying on M.Gagnon to make the saves, the DHK were well on their way to settling the score.
