Generals overcome slow start to edge out Krazy Train

The opening period saw Krazy Train burst out of the gates with ferocity, capitalising on the Generals slow start to grab a 2-0 lead. Their efforts paid off with M.Cerone nothing two power play goals. It was the kind of start required if there was a chance at defeating a formidable opponent. As the game progressed however , the Generals began to find their rhythm by creating way more chances. With K.Kuczmarksi finally solving P.Delli Colli followed with a quick tally by M.Pinheiro, this contest was all tied up heading into the final frame. Perhaps the pivotal point of the game occurred early in the third period. The Krazy Train took two penalties on the same play that opened the door for the Generals. Maybe giving up one of two would have been a good deal taken by the Krazy Train knowing how lethal the Generals are with two men up. Unfortunately, the gave up a pair instead courtesy of-M Paradis and J-R Turgeon and found themselves in a much deeper hole. Overcoming such a deficit is challenging, but the Krazy Train did make things interesting when M.Richard converted on the power play. Although there wasn’t much time left over, the Krazy Train had their moments to level only to get a little unlucky while having to figure out P.Blais at the same time. As expected in the end, this game was going to be decided by a close margin that favoured the Generals on this particular night.

R.Ranieri brilliant in net as Fatal Demons edge past Armadillos

Right-from the opening face off, it was clear that this would be a closely contested affair. The Armadillos came out strong capitalising on their five man unit thanks to P.Musto. As the game progressed, the Fatal Demons started to assert themselves a little harder, making their counter attacks count getting the games nest three goals. T.Langiano, M.Destounis and A.Argiroudis all did the scoring for the Fatal Demons. In order for the Armadillos to score only one goal throughout a massive stretch, its because goaltending plays a major role. R.Ranieri’s confidence and composure under pressure provided a solid foundation for the Fatal Demons defensive efforts, frustrating the Armadillos offensive players and denying them opportunity to build momentum. Eventually, the Armadillos pulled themselves within one when G.Bouchard beat Ranieri for a rare time. With still plenty of time left over, the Armadillos couldn’t crack the Fatal Demons defensive unit no matter how hard they tried. The Armadillos kept launching a relentless attack only to keep getting snake bitten. Finally, the final buzzer sounded, and the Fatal Demons celebrated their gritty triumph over a formidable opponent.

Rated R outlasts Brew Crew in shootout thriller

It was clear that both teams were hungry for victory, with the intensity palpable in every play. D.Verta proved to be a force to be reckoned with for the Brew Crew as he single handily carried his team with an incredible performance, scoring all four regulation goals including his clubs lone shootout marker. On the other hand, P.Assadi was equally impressive scoring three of his teams four goals that included a shorthanded marker. The game was so equally matched as both sides fought for every inch of the court. The special teams worked, their star players produced, and the goaltenders traded some nice saves keeping the game honest. Rated R wasn’t far-from taking it in regulation time, but had to wait a little longer since D.Verta bagged his fourth to send the game into overtime. During the sudden death frame, neither side managed to get an edge as one more step was required in order to settle the score, which was the dreaded shootout. In a tense and electrifying showdown, Rated R showcased their composure and precision, with P.Nakhle and S.DosSantos finding the back of the net to put the pressure on the Brew Crew. Despite the Brew Crew’s valiant efforts, they could only muster one goal, ultimately falling short in a game that could have gone either way.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Rino Ranieri of the Fatal Demons. Despite facing some quality chances against a very good opponent, R.Ranieri stood tall between the pipes, making a series of crucial saves to keep the advantage for his club.
