This year, the Armored Saints celebrate their 50th season in the ball hockey world after playing for so long under PTM ballhockey leagues today known as Hockeyballe.com. It was almost 20 years ago that Tony Cecere registered his ball hockey club still known today as the Armored Saints at a gym in the north part of the island. It was during the 1995-1995 season when the Armored Saints first began competing for PTM ballhockey leagues playing in the Open division, a division at the time allowing players without any restrictions to participate that included some big names teams such as the Montreal Storm, Oilers, Devils Knights, Bullets and many others. To their resume the long time Saints have participated in 7 Open, 4 B, 5 C+, 26 C, 6 D and 2 E divisions and to their credit were able to capture glory on two occasions dating back to the winter of 1998-1999 as Open division winners and summer of 1999 as C champions. Some players from the Armored Saints also had the privilege to play at the Eastern Regionals B 1999 in Brampton Ontario, C 2000 in Saint John New Brunswick and C 2001 in Montreal. Before starting off with PTM ball hockey leagues the Armored Saints began their journey in 1994 at Francois Perrault for 3 sessions, 5 in DDO and 1 in RDP. That’s plenty of ballhockey for any standards and from that point in time dating back to 1994 the Armored Saints have yet to take a season off. Captains like Tony Cecere are few now a days as it is very difficult to keep a team together especially for that long period of time. Even after having gone through neck surgery and being out for 2 sessions, Tony Cecere still managed to keep his troops intact to continue the legacy of his club.
Happy 50th Anniversary Armored Saints
