Sharpshooters overwhelmed in consecutive clashes vs DHK

It didn’t take long for the DHK to set the tempo and dictate the play versus the Sharpshooters. Their crisp passing and natural finish was on full display as they mounted a 5-0 lead by the time the first period ended. All the Sharpshooters looked for at that point was to at least battle harder and spoil D.Delaronde’s shutout. J.Teresi accomplished part of the mission by finally figuring out the net minder on a hard wrist shot. And although the Sharpshooters appeared to be more engaged, it really didn’t matter in the end as the DHK used the clock to their advantage. N.Francis was the catalyst behind the win as the sound defenseman posted five points that included a hat trick. With the first game under their belt, the DHK were thirsty for more and it showed as they lit the lamp on four unanswered goals. It didn’t seem to matter much that the Sharpshooters approached the second game with more urgency after disastrous first game. Just over six minutes had gone by, and A.Olewinsky had tallied twice for a 4-0 lead. Even though the uphill battle proved to steep to conquer, the Sharpshooters made it a point to keep battling wanting to avoid another embarrassing score line. To their credit, they posted the games next to goals, and made a serious push by pulling their net minder for the extra attacker. The extra man advantage went on for nearly five minutes, but without any success as the DHK remained calm and collective to run out the clock.

Peters silence Chiefs in shutout victory, Chiefs roar back in shootout thriller

In a captivating two game mini series , the Peters and the Chiefs battled it out in two closely contested matchups that had the fans on the edge of their seats. The Peters asserted their defensive prowess throughout the entire first game keeping a formidable off the score sheet. In order to blank such an opponent, your goaltender needs to be dialled in. C.Fortin was lights out stopping everything in sight which secured J.Lulic’s lone goal to stick for good. The second game didn’t slow down the pace of the Peters in their attempt to making it two in a row. And what a start after K.Vincent riffled two power play goals to get the bench going. The Peters appeared to be in excellent shape to grabbing six clean points to the standings. For three straight periods, the defense was firm, and C.Fortin was exceptional stifling a lethal offense. As the game progressed into the final frame, a pair of penalties opened the door for a team that barely misses with the man advantage.  That’s when S.Vanier made sure to answer the call. The forward scored not once, but twice to send the game into a shootout. The two sides then relied on their high end skilled players and goaltenders to steal the show during the breakaways. After six combined attempts, W.Desrosiers was the only player to deliver, giving the Chiefs the slight edge after an intense battle with the Peters.

Classics roll over Hustlers as C.Gingras takes center stage

In a display of sheer dominance, the Classics overwhelmed the Hustlers in a one sided showdown. The Classics, although went scoreless in the opening frame took over in the second period on five unanswered goals. At the heart of the Classics offensive explosion was C.Gingras, who put on a clinic with a stunning display of scoring ability. Four of the Classics five goals stemmed-from him striking twice while setting up P.Karvouriaris a couple of times. In hopes of turning the tide in the second encounter, the Hustlers found themselves constantly on the defensive, struggling to contain the Classics dynamic line up, and more particularly C.Gingras. Plain and simple, Cingras was uncontainable. Whether it was breaking plays, feeding teammates or taking on players one on one, the star player was unstoppable padding six more points that included four goals. Its almost safe to say that the Classics won handily thanks to their main guy despite having a solid supporting cast.

Degenerates hold ground in first match, Les Yables assert dominance by second encounter

The opening encounter between the Degenerates and Les Yables was a closely contested affair, with both teams displaying a strong defensive presence and trading scoring opportunities throughout the game. Les Yables nearly closed it out in regulation time before giving up a late tally that forced a shootout. At least they won that battle on a lone tally by D.Marcotte. While the first encounter was fairly even, the second one was far-from being anywhere close. It went to show how a quicker and younger team was able to dictate the pace. When winning plenty of loose ball battles coupled with a ton of ball possession, its only normal that you’ll overwhelm the opposition .Les Yables were relentless in their pursuit of victory. M-O Brouillard had a solid start converting on two occasions giving Les Yables a commanding 3-0 lead after a period. The second frame didn’t change much despite the Degenerates getting on board a couple of times. D.Marcotte went on to tally a couple of times right before M-O Brouillard completed his hat trick. In addition to all that fire power was G.Gosselin, who was behind setting up four tallies. Put simply, the Degenerates were always a step behind which explains the lop-sided score line.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Carl Gingras of the Classics. As the focal point of the Classics attack, C.Gingras single handily dismantled the Hustlers defense. By the time the two games were over and done with, the skilled forward walked away with an impressive six goals and four assists.
