G.Valente ,Carnage end Mighty Drunks winning streak

Carnage knew that they would need contributions from everyone in order to defeat the red hot Mighty Drunks. G.Valente was unreal making a lot of big plays that resulted in four points that included a clutch winner late in the game. This contest was only decided towards the end with Carnage striking twice in only 90 seconds. Valente’s winner came on the power play after Y.Dube was caught for a tripping call. As bad as he may have felt, Y.Dube was also a big reason why this game remained close as the forward buried two out of the Mighty Drunks four goals.

(5)Screaming Eagles vs Knights(4)

Screaming Eagles edge out Knights for first win of season

M.Sangiovanni and the Screaming Eagles were determined to not let this one slip away. After falling behind three times, the Screaming Eagles never let up and continued to put the pressure on the Knights. There first lead only occurred as of the five minute mark of the third period when S.Patel snapped a 3-3 tie. It didn’t take long for the F.Bchara to respond with his second for the Knights which levelled the game for a fourth time. The Screaming Eagles played their best hockey of the season in the third period and know that they need to put out a full 45 minute effort in order to get some decent results.

Left Wings pair goals in every frame for double up win over AREZ

The Left Wings certainly didn’t make it easy for the AREZ with their smart style of play on Wednesday night. They jumped on board early with a pair of strong shifts that ended with G.Gaitanis and A.Perrault finding the back of the net. Clearly, that deficit put the AREZ in massive bind having to play with a way shorter bench. They did eventually create some offense when E.Salhany set up all three goals that saw E.El Kareh benefit twice, but the damage had already been done. M.Papagiannakis scored twice in the victory and J.Adamou was credited the winner.

(3)Armadillos vs Fat Roy(5)

Early defensive lapses cost Armadillos vs Fat Roy

Well, that didn’t take long. The Fat Roy made their shots count against the Armadillos scoring five straight times before the two minute mark of the second period. D.Lombardi got things started off for the Fat Roy riffling back to back tallies for a 2-0 lead. For the Armadillos, it was as bad as it gets for a team that prides themselves defensively. They gave up the ball too many times, and in doing so saw their goalie out to dry. Credit to Fat Roy, who came wave after wave wreaking havoc with their speed which resulted in five quick goals. The Armadillos did show some push back after an embarrassing start. The games next three tallies did belong to them but couldn’t reach their destination in time.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Gianluca Valente of Carnage. The forward was dynamic on this night, delivering a four point performance that included a huge power play goal to decide the outcome late in the game.

(3)Buckshots vs Fitforce Phoenix(6)

Buckshots finally understand what it feels like to lose

The Buckshots came back to earth on Thursday night. The hottest team of the E division rolled into tracking down another massive winning streak, but the desperate Fitforce Phoenix were having none of it. So, rather than the joy of five, the Buckshots suffered the agony of defeat. It became evident fairly early that the Fitforce Phoenix were the more urgent of the two teams. They ran up the score in the first period to 3-0, and never fell behind despite a push back from the Buckshots. The win came courtesy of an overall team effort with six different players finding the back of the net. A.Sayed was credited the winner, and M.St-Laurent was sharp limiting a  power house offense to only three goals.

(6)Toyota Candiac vs Fatal Demons(2)

Fatal Demons couldn’t break the Toyota Candiac trap

After falling behind early versus a depleted line up, the Fatal Demons were stuck going up against a masterful trap by the Toyota Candiac. One of the major key factors in tonight’s game was to score first. Teams play different with the lead and when they have to chase the game. This was an ideal situation for a team that had only one change up to their bench. The Toyota Candiac had the luxury to go into lock down mode which clearly frustrated their opponent. The Fatal Demons barely had an inch to generate quality chances, something that P.Assadi was glad to see in front of him. P.Corbin, M.Croteau and R.Fortin-Lamothe did all of the scoring as the three players shared two goals apiece. On the flip side of the court, A.Zarzour was the only player to beat P.Assadi ,who was stellar between the pipes despite facing only 14 shots.

(10)Horsemen vs Underdogs(0)

Underdogs stuck facing the inevitable

It was a strong and decent first period for the Underdogs, but how long could it have lasted having barely any players to change with. The answer to that came as early as the second period. The Horsemen found their touch, and in doing so went on a rampage igniting five goals in only five minutes. That short sequence was all it took for this match to be decided. The Underdogs were stuck enduring an inevitable defeat unable to really generate much. E.Caccavale scored once in every frame to earn a hat trick while S.Giannakis, M.Kardum and P.Sidhom each chipped in with a pair. Even though he didn’t score out of his clubs ten goals, V.Pandza helped set up half of them.  

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Martin St-Laurent of the Fitforce Phoenix. Many things need to go right in order to defeat the Buckshots, especially goaltending. M.St-Laurent was a major reason why his club prevailed in the end, making enough brilliant saves that enabled his team to play with the lead.
