Stellar Goaltending duel ends in a draw
(3)Punishers vs Legacy(3) S.O
You couldn’t ask for much more in a hockey game as both sides showed offensive creativity and both goaltenders came up with big saves to keep their teams alive. The Punishers may have started well jumping off to a 2-0 lead with goals by M.Koutavas and A.Argiroudis, but weren’t able to maintain their pace by the time the second period ended. After evening the score 2-2, A.Athanasopoulos put Legacy in front for the first time during the contest bagging a shorthanded goal on the help of J.Mandracchia’s third point of the game. All of a sudden, the Punishers found themselves in some trouble, but weren’t overly concerned as they have been through this before. Good teams don’t panic and usually overcome mild challenges such as a slight one goal deficit. Eventually, they got their thanks to M-C Levasseur tying the game at three. Even with some time left over along with a looming overtime period, it was the goaltenders that took over-from there on. B.Makris of the Punishers and A.Ekonomakis were the real story by the time it was said and done. The two net minders were stellar in the final stretch that included an open four versus four overtime period along with a three man shootout where they were able to deny every shot they faced.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Jonathan Mandracchia of Legacy. All three goals stemmed from J.Mandracchia. The forward scored once while setting up two teammates that included a big assist on a short handed tally.
