Thursdays January 18 (Open semi final)
Chiefs secure final with series sweep over the Altius
(2)Altius vs Chiefs(3) Game 2
The opening period set the tone for the Chiefs dominance, as they stormed with three consecutive goals in under five minutes. Led by their crafty marksman J.Gagne, the captain not only got his club on board, but was able to set up both P.Genereaux and M.Mavroudis. The Altius were now facing a significant deficit knowing that scoring twice against the Chiefs wouldn’t come easy. Its not like they don’t have the fire power to do so. The problem was that the Chiefs kept showcasing their defensive prowess led by their goaltender F.Gagnon, who was lights out containing a lethal offense. The goaltender kept making crucial saves, and the defence remained sound as everyone bought into playing for one another. Eventually, the Altius cracked the barrier thanks to B.Jutras’s second, a goal that left just over ten minutes in the third period. As much as the Altius continued to apply pressure in search of the next tally, the Chiefs remained composed under pressure, making crucial defensive stops while heavily relying on F.Gagnon as the last line of defense. In the end, the Chiefs game playing without the ball held firm concluding a hard fought series sweep over the Altius.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Jonathan Gagne of the Chiefs. Gagne’s impact was felt early and often, setting the tone for the Chiefs offensive efforts. His influence extended throughout the entire game participating in all three goals while setting the example of a true leader for his club.
After a hard fought victory in the semi finals, the Chiefs have earned the right to battle for the Championship title, and standing in their way are the formidable Black Knights. The stage is now set for an epic final that promises to deliver intense ball hockey action, and determine who will prevail the Thursday Open division.
