L’importance de cette rencontre était primordiale pour les deux équipes ; Équipe Grèce se devait de l’emporter pour égaliser la série et tenter sa chance dans un match ultime, alors que l’équipe Canadienne voulait mettre fin à une saison remarquable en demeurant invaincue. Les deux équipes ont entamé le match numéro 2 avec tout en jeu. Équipe Grèce, en dépit d'être les négligés, ont lancé un défi louable, forçant l'équipe Canadienne à devoir redoubler d’ardeur pour tenter de s’aventurer en zone offensive. Le match a été marqué par d'intenses va-et-vient ; les deux équipes s’échangeant la possession de la balle à répétitions ... A la surprise de tous, Équipe Grèce a pris une avance de 1 – 0, tôt en deuxième période sur un but de S. Karageorgos. Cependant, Équipe Canada a rapidement réagi pour égaliser la marque grâce à un but de M-A Trudeau.
