Monday September 13 ( Division 2 final)
Classics leadership evident in playoff run, crowned winners
It was all about unfinished business when it came to the Classics. The motivation was pretty simple for a tight knit group that was on a mission all season to prove to everyone that they were the real team to beat. Experience is a big part of playoff hockey, and the Classics have more than enough of to go around. Adding to that, they were able to floor a complete line up consisting of ten players that has each and every one providing a key role. The Classics got through the Degenerates in their semi final match up by taking the opening game in a shootout before thumping them in game two by a decisive 6-2 margin. With the other semi final series favouring the 1 Timer over the Hart Foundation, both teams met only moments later for the final. The 1 Timer roared off to a 2-0 lead in game 1 but needed a big shootout goal by T.Daigneault to grab the series lead. Despite being down in the series, the Classics overcame adversity displaying resiliency while altering their compete level where the 1 Timer slowly realised they couldn’t match. From -the drop of the ball in game 2, the Classics gave their opponent almost nothing, trapping lanes while blocking shot after shot. F.Casacalenda’s early goal proved to be more than enough for how well the Classics defended, and more importantly for how P.Assadi was possessed stopping every ball his way. Game three was eventually decided by only one goal thanks to M.Destounis, and again P.Assadi making the difference in net. It just goes to show that veteran leadership is invaluable, especially come playoff time. The teams leadership has contributed to balanced scoring, responsible defence and stand up goaltending. And because of it, the Classics rightfully deserved the recognition of being the Monday division 2 champs. On behalf of Hockeyballe.com, congratulation go out to Pat Santullo and the rest of the Classics for getting it done.

The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Pedram Assadi of the Classics. The net minder did every thing he could to make sure that he and the Classics would win. P.Assadi carried something special in his heart pushing him even harder than usual to help provide a successful run for his team.
