(6)River Rats vs Northstars(4)
River Rats erupt with 5 second period goals to start season strong
After facing a 2-0 deficit, the defending champs put on a remarkable offensive display in the middle fifteen minutes. There didn’t need to be any hero or anybody in particular to spark the surge. The River Rats used their balance line up to get scoring done by five different players. M.Dettore and N.Cordelione collected three points each in the frame which resulted in three late second period goals. Marco Diaco joined that club by posting a lone third period tally for the River Rats, who look to dominate the regular season after being crowned not too long ago. As for the Northstars, D.Traversy was a force scoring twice along with a helper.
(3)Icons vs Legacy(1)
Icons top Legacy in anticipated season match up
It didn’t matter that this was just the first game of a regular season, this battle had more on the line. Legacy may look at it as just an ordinary match up but they would just be fooling themselves if they didn’t care. The Icons have prided their success on using a very deep bench which seems to be a very important ingredient for why they are that good. As long as they defend the way they do and chip in a goal here and there, then many teams will struggle to beat them. P.Karvouriaris,M.Arkalis and C.Stamadianos each scored in different frames while C.Stavriadis stopped 24 of 25 shots. The intensity was high but the respect was there as both sides limited their trip to the penalty box. Both clubs will meet one more time or possibly a third time which will only suggest for another great battle.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Costa Stavriadis of the Icons. The net minder may have seen this sentence once or twice before or maybe even a little more than that as he once again earns the player of the night. The Brilliant net minder just came off three championships in the Autumn session and will look to do the same with great teams in front of him.
